Is all this development worth it given the increase in floor height for next year?west52keep64 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 00:44It seems they have been busy. That floor looks a lot more refined! Does anyone have any pictures of this floor fitted to the car? Specifically pictures of the bib area. Looking at that floor, I feel like they've changed that area quite a bit.
The floor height increase is on the edges isn’t it? So the Venturi tunnels especially the inner ones will have a likeness to todays. Also if they have struggled with correlation, now would be a good time to iron those out with on track datachrisc90 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 00:56Is all this development worth it given the increase in floor height for next year?west52keep64 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 00:44It seems they have been busy. Of course we don’t know the correlations between this years floor and next years. But I imagine 15mm could be quite significant
Not 100% sure which areas. I seem to remember the throat of the floor being raised too?101FlyingDutchman wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 00:58The floor height increase is on the edges isn’t it? Wow that is completely different to the basic floor they launched with.KAIZEN wrote: ↑12 Nov 2022, 04:49japan gp W13 floor

Given the RB concept was based around the idea of a raised floor, and the regulations next year raise the floor, I'd argue Merc developing a similar concept is certainly "worth it".chrisc90 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 00:56Is all this development worth it given the increase in floor height for next year?west52keep64 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 00:44It seems they have been busy. It's pretty interesting to see it, but basically thanks to the budget cap, teams are building the full-size car more and more like the windtunnel model in terms of the "modularity". That rear wing endplate detail is straight from the windtunnel model. It's slightly heavier to design a car this way (because each junction adds mass), but with the cost cap, it allows you to get the best of both worlds.cplchanb wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 19:51https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/merc ... /10400082/

"Mercedes with Power Unit Phase 3 reinforced the crankshaft to improve reliability. This allowed better PU optimization and more aggressive maps while keeping good reliability. Next step was taken in Mexico with new turbo management mapping, a change that allowed for better heat dissipation"
