F1 team partnership/ownership speculation

Post

So currently we have 3 parties wanting to (re-)enter F1 in future: Porsche, Honda & Andretti

We also have 4 f1 teams, who are struggling and of which the owners are considering their options.

Haas is underperforming after their solid midfield debut
Williams is underperforming after the financial injection of Dorlington
Alpha Tauri starts to become obsolete for the new Redbull directors.
McLaren is in financial difficulties because of the low revenue at the car division.

So the owners are all looking at the options to sell part of the team, or new take a new partnership or at least extra cash inflow. Any suggestions how they could team up in future?

You should clarify that it isn't 3 teams that want to join. It's 2 PU manufactures and 1 Chassis manufacture. Honda hasn't made any noise in doing anything more than making a PU. Porsche have said definetly only a PU. While Andretti are looking to build a chassis and use someone else's PU.

Of the 4 teams that are struglling.

Haas are getting thier act together but seem like they are 100 years from being a REAL chassis manufacture. That is thier choice and Haas doesn't want to sell.

Williams was coming from a long way back and Dorlington need deeper pockets or expect a slower climb.

Alpha Tauri will have a PU supplied by RBR and RBR needs a 2nd team that will run it's PU for reliability. I'd be surprised if they are for sale.

McLAren F1 team is still up in value cause of F1 as a whole doing well. Thier Windtunnel is nearing complition and will be usesd to build the 2024 contender.

Alpine are finacially stable but Renault want to sell all or part of thier F1 team to finance the Alpine expansion in North America.

Something that may be a consideration to them is the 'rule' that if a team does not have an engine, the one with least customers has to supply them.
Right now only Renault supply just one team, so would default to the nominated supplier, but what if it is Renault who pull out?

RBR may decide it is better to have AT as a customer as they have full control and would then be one place higher up the list than say Honda if they only supply a single team, or indeed Porsche/Audi or however they call themselves.

Probably not a game changer in its own right, but a little extra thought when they are weighing up.
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

That rule only comes into play if nobody wants to supply you. How many teams a PU manufacturer supplies doesn't prevent them from supplying another team. This was the case for RBR, neither Ferrari or Merc wanted to supply them PUs and Renault was fed up with them. That led to the creation of that rule.

So if no one wants to supply a team the one with the smallest number has to.
That is what I mean. They may not be keen on letting team 'X' have a close look at their race engine, but have no choice.
