I would anticipate a chinese takeover by Geely.
Not sure how I feel about the idea of Williams becoming Lotus!

I would rather Geely buy Alpine F1 Team, so that Enstone becomes Lotus again. :)

Doesn't Geely already own 50% of all IC engines and hybrid engines used in Renault, Dacia, Geely Auto, Volvo Cars, Lynk & Co, Proton, Nissan and Mitsubishi ?
The new company is planned to operate 17 powertrain plants in 3 continents, employing around 19,000 people in total. It will have a combined capacity of over 5 million internal combustion, hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines and transmissions per year, supplying over 130 countries and regions.

Formula E might be more appropriate for Geely?

It presently costs $200 Million to just get a license for a F1 team, the current thinking is that price will go up to $500 million for the next Concord agreement in 2026, that makes the Alpine team worth North of $500 Million and approaching 1 Billion Dollars. You're gonna really need deep pockets to get there.

Geely and Renault have already partnered in a new company...

"Under the framework agreement, Geely and Renault Group will hold respective 50-50 equity stakes in the new company."

Interesting choice of strategy there. Wonder whether part of the silence was that he needed it cleared and gardened out at Mercedes then? Hope he can be a long-term prospect that can help bring them back up the grid.

Maybe this:
"...Williams have confirmed that James Vowles will take over the position of Team Principal from the 2023 season onwards....

RacingNews365 also understands that security around the announcement of former Mercedes chief strategist Vowles was so tight that people who were aware of his identity had been forced to sign non-disclosure agreements.

The appointment of the new Technical Director will follow in due course."

Is this preparation for taking TP role in Mercedes in some future? :)

Well Porsche wanted a controlling percentage (50% min).

Yeah wouldn't be surprised if that's what they're doing. Not hard to win a few points a year and still turn a profit in today's F1.
If Porsche made that their sticking point to be in business with Red Bull of all teams, they certainly will want full control over their "factory team" no matter wether it's called Williams or Porsche racing.

By Mercedes no, his contract run out, he wanted a bigger role, Mercedes didn't give him... he went to be team leader at Williams.

Williams did boot him after the partnership failed.

Congrats on JV on being the new TP. AMG-Merc will miss him on the strategy side.

I wonder who the front runners are for the vacant TD role.
