There isn't a 2023 thread so I will place it here.
.Fernando Alonso was able to quickly spot the differences between the performance of his Alpine and Aston Martin after taking part in post-season testing, according to deputy technical director Eric Blandin.
In an interview published on Aston Martin’s official website, Blandin explained just what Alonso will bring to the team next season – though he admitted there will also be pressure on the team to give him and Lance Stroll a car capable of challenging in 2023.
“Fernando’s feedback is extremely precise,” Blandin said. “He clearly communicated what he wants from the car and immediately identified a few things that we’ve been able to feed into the design of the AMR23.
“Last season, Fernando drove a car that was quite different from ours – and more competitive. After driving the AMR22, he was quickly able to compare the two cars and say, ‘this is clearly better, this is clearly worse, and this is what we should focus on.’”
“Fernando is an outstanding driver,” Blandin said. “There aren’t many drivers of his calibre on the grid – you can count them on one hand. He’s so passionate, so driven… extremely driven. After everything he’s achieved, he still has that restless hunger to win.
“Signing Fernando was massive for the team. He’s going to push us a lot and help take us to the next level.
“He’ll push Lance, too. They’ll complement each other and he’ll bring out the best in him. We have a very strong driver pairing, and it’s up to us to give them a competitive car.
“We can have the best driver pairing on the grid, but it won’t count for much if we don’t give them a fast car. We need to deliver.”
Since when have you been completely focused on the 2023 car
Since before the summer break (mid-August) . The work started before that, but the most important work started a couple of weeks before the summer break.
What similarities will it have to the 2022 car?
-Absolutely nothing.
Krack seems level headed & kind of a person who wont give up under pressure.organic wrote: ↑29 Jan 2023, 17:55Do we think Aston Martin under krack's leadership will continue giving Stroll the new parts/updates first. And how will Alonso react / deal with him not getting the parts at the same time as Stroll, if this continues.
Vettel was obviously a great teammate and never complained, but can see it going differently with Fernando
With Vettel's covid going into the year, then annoucing his departure going into the summer break, I can see why getting new parts first wouldn't have been balanced between the two drivers. AMR probably new long before the summer break of Vettel's retirement.organic wrote: ↑29 Jan 2023, 17:55Do we think Aston Martin under krack's leadership will continue giving Stroll the new parts/updates first. Considering Stroll's contact with Wolff, and the fact that AM's cars are essentially Mercs, that's definitely going to stay the same
AM buys engine, gearbox and rear suspension from merc mostly because it cheaper to buy gearbox and suspension made for merc engine rather than wasting resources designing their own but if honda are willing to partner and with new facilities they can design and manufacture their own rear end. And stroll's relationship with wolff wouldn't matter if big manufacturer willing to partner with you.Besides look at how many manufacturer teams will be in 2026, ferrari, redbull ford, merc, renault, sauber audi, william porsche, if AM doesn't get works engine they will never be champions.
I'm not gonna go looking for the article but anyone elses can if they want...Last year Krack complained about the rear suspension and stated that they would be better off if they built it themselves. They lacked the equipment and that they would be building it themselves in the near future, once they get settled into thier new building. He didn't set a date but look for 2024 or 2025 for a original Aston rear suspension and gearbox.Alok91 wrote: ↑04 Feb 2023, 19:29AM buys engine, gearbox and rear suspension from merc mostly because it cheaper to buy gearbox and suspension made for merc engine rather than wasting resources designing their own but if honda are willing to partner and with new facilities they can design and manufacture their own rear end. Porsche is not registered as a 2026 PU supplier. They will not be there.Alok91 wrote: ↑04 Feb 2023, 19:29AM buys engine, gearbox and rear suspension from merc mostly because it cheaper to buy gearbox and suspension made for merc engine rather than wasting resources designing their own but if honda are willing to partner and with new facilities they can design and manufacture their own rear end. Am road car company and AMF1 team are two seperate business, F1 team is wholly own by stroll.Which direction the f1 team goes is solely decided by Lawrence Stroll.
