From my understanding of various experts - no. Both setups can have same amount of grip. Teams choose one or the other for aerodynamic reasons. Setup McLaren uses now should be better for aero. But it is possible that McLaren did not "nail" the suspension design in the first year.
I never understood this aero benefit of having a rod that is inclined from top of or from the bottom of chassis
Isn't it as simple as leaving as clear as possible path for the air to travel in the area that you need clean air, and placing the blockage in a less vulnerable place?

IMO, its not just about Air Flow or COG, there's also the best place for the chassis mounting points, to be considered too

That is True, but forces are always paired with a reaction force.

A pushrod has a tensile reaction force on the lower wishbone. A pullrod has a compressive reaction force on the upper wishbone.

Maybe, give all loads on the suspension one might be lighter than the other...

Apparently by keeping it high you do not disturb critical air feeding the floor/diffusor. I am no expert but that was the talk last year when McLaren switched. No real difference in mechanical grip - only potential aero benefits.

The Front Wing looks further forward... Does this mean the Nose is longer ?

The rules are pretty prescriptive about FW leading edge position, so if that image is from the same angle and has the same lens angle they're backing off the centre span of the front wing, or the whole front wing. But they can't move it forward.

With this being at Bahrain, we’re likely only to see whatever McLarens social team thinks is ok, unlikely to have proper fotos until testing on Thursday.

To my eye, the sidepod inlet and splitter is further back, the front suspension and wing is further forward.
