Alpine A523

Alpine's rear push rod is old. To be clear, it's what Alfa Romeo used in 2022. I don't understand the reasons for this choice.

Look at it. The pull-rod inserts to the chassis down at the bottom of the gearbox, right inside an aero critical area above the diffuser.

The pushrod relocates the inboard mounting point higher and out of the way.

They explained it themselves. Clears the path for airflow in critical region and lowers weight for them

And the Red Bull teams and Mclaren used it, not just Alpha.

The problem is that an old push rod. McLaren, alphatauri and alfa romeo use a more advanced push rod. They mount it in front of the front arm of the upper triangle. While alpine puts him behind the triangle as blackout did see

Looks like a pullrod to me. The idea is to keep the wheel down. Typically pushrod is high on the chassis side and pushes down on the lower wheel side. This is the opposite, it looks to be pulling down from low on the chassis too high on the wheel. Maybe, I missed the relevant pictures... Been tide up with work...

You might be looking at the old picture. The new one is this (pushrod is colored green by Blackout):

[Speculation] Maybe Alpine replaced that '22 intercooler by one of those 3d printed & rounded next-gen ones. #Reaction_Engines
This could explain many things*.
Or not.

[my original '22 drawing was also speculative, because the pictures were scarce back then]
Image
It could explain the slimmer neck and the disappearance of the small blister that surrounded the old intercooler + part of the weight & performance gains etc.
Image
What Harman said about the rear centerline cooling system (that double radiator at the back) is intriguing. He said "we removed it from here, but we didnt put it in the sidepod", or something along those lines, & "we made it smaller"... then he mentioned the combustion air T°...

& since the top rad seemed to be connected to engine-mounted air-to-water intercooler (while the bottom rad seemed to be linked to gearbox), I guess the top rad cooled the intercoolers H2O in '22...
→ maybe A523 has a new intercooler that needs less water & a smaller rad.

That would be very cool and it's interesting how open the technical team have been this pre-season compared to most teams..breath of fresh air

Re: Alpine A523

So if this courageous choice with FW works well;
- middle & rear of A523 should get more air thx to the raised main plane + the higher & downwashy wishbones
=> more middle & rear DF
- & the bigger FW flaps & wider/flatter nose should give more front DF
=> more front DF

& if it works very well, the team will be able to turn the FW flaps even more if there is too much understeer, without stalling that flow & starving the rear of the car.
& if it works very very well, Alpine = WCC with 15 races to go.
#Ocular_CFD

& if it doesn't work, Alpine designed the nose cone & FW to be more modular and changeable according to Harman
