McLaren MCL60

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Here's what I captured from the clip between the blurry bits, have they put a roof on the front of the floor?

An interesting and original treatment for the rear wheel deflector that surrounds the brake duct. They folded it at 90°twice and now it looks like a duct, so now they have a duct inside their duct

They covered the floor by adding some post process video effects. There is something that they not want others to see?
I did say you wouldn't see the race floor even before the car launch

why are they blurring the floor?

at 1:28 you can see it clearly

it looks similar to the W14 one

at 2:14 you can hear clearly the floor scrapping
Firstly the car looks to be porpoising even in a corner which is interesting.

It looks like the floor drops in the central region as opposed to the rear portion which acts to create a powerful sealing of the floor edges

And they retained their very backward cockpit position which is very visible here. This comes in handy in 2023

What the point of covering the floor pictures now? All the teams who are track side will have seen it already from the pitlane.

I wonder if they could use this duct to push the tire squirt away from the diffuser.

*They didnt necessarily 'fold' that deflector... it seems they closed it with a large fin at each side, and now it forms a box. (last year they and AM had a small fin at the to pof the deflector) but these 2023 fins seems to seal the duct completely
