Alpine A523

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

A nice pic thx to Piola. It also shows the new suspension, especially the more neatly integrated '23 anti-roll tubes that help making the car rear end tighter.

But dont read F. Nugnes analysis & infos.
He looks like a noob, despite the fact he's been around for 180 years.

A nice view on the new front susp geometry.
The other important change compared to '22 is that the floor leading edge connects to the bib underneath the nose, like the earlier RB '22 floor, not the nose.
& the engine cover screws location are a clue about the next update.
Or not.

I’m curious about the gear in the gear in the damper, any ideas?

I dont know what that suspension element is. Maybe a rotative adjuster for the springs?

The '23 centerline cooling size decrease is probably due to a better angle too. It's facing the air so it can be smaller.

Smaller rads → slimmer ducts & less air needed → slimmer rollhoop → more air for rear wing* & less drag → more downofrce → 23 triple podiums for Alpine.

*or the same amount of DF but with less lift produced by the less wide and sloping rollhoop cover

Do this cooler raise CoG? not necessarily, & A523 has 3000kg of ballast so it can offset that.
& even if it raises CoG, aero gains are probably 5 times worth the car dynamics loss

But Harman said the new system is more efficient too

The very new RW. Maybe it replaces the A522B medium DF RW (below - Suzuka)

The old alpine nose looks so ugly compared to this car.

They will use the new rear-wing at somewhere like Miami?

Last year in Miami they used the lower DF RW (& they used it in Jedda)

It seems they added an extension to the boat tail, A.K.A keel, similar to what Ferrai did last year...
