McLaren MCL60

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Looks like the floor edges are deliberately blurred at times in this video.
Do you agree? What does that mean?
Sorry to dig this up but that's borderline funny. Everyone must be so keen to copy the floor from the team that doesn't even have a proper wind tunnel

It's quite weird how similar (at least in the flesh) this car looks to the Williams. Even the floor crease behind the tunnel entrance (which people were confusing for a hole), is almost the same in the Williams as well. And grant it, that's probably completely insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but it's the little details that usually make the difference between the top teams and the rest.

This technical team, which McLaren spent a lot of money and time to put together, receiving no little amount of praise and pride along the way, could only conjure up a design which is incredibly similar to that of a team which has been running on bread crumbs for the last half decade.

At which point does sad become funny?

What from the Mclaren did people copy? I might be misunderstanding this chain of messages, sorry.

You are badly underestimating the engineering difference between a McLaren and a Williams. The McLaren mechanically is miles ahead of Williams. Not only that McLaren composites is closer to the level of the top teams whereas the Williams composites are the most outdated in the field.

You mean the lower SIPS cover? Which would be the same every team running it at its lowest point (like Mercedes or Alpine for example?)

It was going to look pretty much the same for everyone placing it that low
