McLaren MCL60

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

That's not what was said, he said efficiency. That doesn't necessarily mean drag, per se. Efficiency changes through the differing downforce levels.

Many cars at the bottom of the grid lack efficiency but they're very fast in a straight line because they're most efficient in low downforce, low drag setups.

Agreed but what do you think he is meaning wrt efficiency of the MCL60?

Ok lets see, if its only efficiency the car should perform well at some tracks, and im sure it wont, their constant denial and excuses, are incredible

Are those support stays in the diffuser? Were they there for the entire testing? Haven't seen that on any other car

that's a stagnation pressure sensor package , and that's the light one , yesterday they used a big sensor package that made the diffuser look like a spider's nest lol

Wouldn't the back pressure induced by the kiel rakes influence the performance and pressure distribution inside the diffuser? It just looks like blockage. One of the tricky things about these sensor arrays is understanding how to take measurements without the measuring instrument influencing the property you are trying to measure.

Sensors always affect the airflow. You have to model that too.

This concept was abandoned 2 months ago, however it was too late to change course.
