Alfa Romeo officially talks about the engine, so much so that they are changing elements of the power unit

Does anyone else feel it's utterly ridiculous to waste precious testing time on red light tests and stupid stuff like that? Would it be so hard to test it with other cars, or I don't know, extend session by 30 mins to do all that?
The sessions are 4hrs 15mins for exactly this reason isn't it? They start the VSC at 15mins left and without such tests the session would be 4hrs
That does make more sense. I guess I was fooled by this from autosport feed:

10:54 So, we've now got 20 minutes of the session remaining but, with the usual systems tests to come, we're now into the final few minutes of proper testing.

Gs don't mean downforce levels when fuel loads vary. And Ferrari run lower df levels so that further confuses things

Now people won't think 2023 is a catwalk for RB because of your sensible comment

The Ferrari is not part of the comparison, it's Zhou doing his glory run yesterday. So softer tyres and likely less fuel than RB. The other one is Alonso.

Judging by sector times, Merc on C5 and Ferrari on C4, Ferrari had less fuel and Merc turned up the engine more
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

From what I can tell of that figure, that is not the Ferrari. It's the Alfa Romeo. The red line is labeled ""zhou".

Lewis cannot do a lap this afternoon without a large snap of under- or oversteer

Ferrari made all it's advantage on the twisty bits, given that Ferrari seems easily lower drag than the Merc(as currently configured) not bad.

Sainz .1 off Charles, as of now.

sainz had relatively low top speed on his lap ~323 kmh, compared to 328 we've been seeing before.

I cannot understand how with this high downforce rear wing Mercedes is so close to a low downforce Ferrari on the straights (Sectors 1,3) and yet so far away in the tight sector 2! The exact opposite thing should be happening…

Which for me translates to: A lower downforce rear wing for Mercedes will make it even worse!

fuel/engine modes can confuse it. Ferrari on their fast laps seem to be doing quite a lot less km/h than they can
