And what pisses me off is that James Key was saying the car was fine after Bahrain last year. That really triggered me hard.

How can you be 3 seconds off the pace and say the car is fine. That's an astonishing level of unprofessionalism. That's your work there out on track failing to compete with cars produced on inferior circumstances, and your response is the car is fine?

I wrote him off after those comments last year. I guess McLaren has put the bet on him and it's too difficult to poach any valuable options from competitors at this point, but if he doesn't deliver when the infrastructure he likes to use as an excuse is upgraded, then he has to go.
But the car was fine last year, it battled for forth all the way to the last race of the season. Not where we wanted them to be, but it wasn't 3 seconds off the pace for long

Fully agreed with you there. I think it’s really hurt Macca to not have had an advisor that was working on ground effect cars in days gone by. Byrne/Newey did and it shows

Oscar saying he believes the car will be "in the mix of the midfield"
Haha that says nothing, outside top 3 all teams are midfield

It’s not out of the question that it’s a top 4 if you compare Alonso and Sainzs laptimes set at the same time on the same tyre.

Seems they are trying to repair the front right again
Yea it’s ridiculous isn’t it. Lack of running will hamper their performance for the Bahrain race but it’s ok they’ll score a podium in Imola if they beat 1 Red Bull, 1 Ferrari, 2 Mercs, 2 Aston Martins, 2 Alpines, and 2 Alfa Romeos and maybe even 2 Haas🤣

Last year people were saying scrap the car, sack the lot of them. Make a B car. It was crazy. Then had a podium after a few races.

So much drama.
I sometimes wonder why I even bother coming to this forum, when half the posts in the thread of my favourite team are drama of the kind you'd expect over at /r/formula1.

So much drama and doom you'd think McLaren were about to be relegated to F2 or something such silly...

I am sorry but I don't believe this is a wheel brow issue, there hasn't been any evidence that they have tried to reinforce that part and even then they said it wouldn't be an issue moving forward. Brakes and cooling again but apparently they can fix it for the first race next week.

It was a wheel brow issue, there's clear evidence given the repair patches, and the car should be back on track in a few minutes.
There's only so much you can speed up curing an epoxy patch unfortunately, sometimes you just have to wait, even with heat guns on them.

There is evidence. You can see the reinforcements, and the carbon of the brows is changing in appearance from day to day as they are trying various things to fix them for good
