Alonso just completed a race sim.
C3 16L (on 3 lap used tires)
C1 21L
C2 21L

It really looked very very good.
Alonso was staring the stints concretively for a few laps, then keep lowering his delta and being very very consistent.

IMO Sainz started a race sim a few laps after him, Trying C3 18L then C3orC2 8L then C1 9L and then it seemed to me like they aborted the sim. In all of Sainz stints it seemed to me that they had very very high degradation that ultimately made them abort the race sim. Their times where getting worst and worst, quite fast.

It looked to me, a very very good race sim.
Should be noted that Ferrari probably don't have the race spec rear wing.

Here is a summary of Alonso's race sim compared to Russell's.

Thanks to F1 Debrief. I take no credit for this.

Hard to compare when one sim was done during the night and the other one when the sun was at the zenith.

Yes the issue is the track temps make a huge difference for tyre deg. For the Bahrain GP the temps will be lower, but that should mean that Merc's/RB's race sim is better. Plus the order that you use the different compounds in will make a difference.

As i stated before, after watching ALO and SAI closely on Live timing, i truly believe Sainz started a race sim alongside Alonso. A race Sim that they had to abort for some reason. It seemed to me high degradation could be the reason.

As AR3-GP said they didn't had their race spec rear wing which is a factor in did.
I am just stating what i saw.

The race sim Alonso did, really impressed me. It was like he didn't had any degradation at all. His times where very very consistent and it felt like he could put a series of delta negative laps at any time he wanted.

I wonder if "no degradation" translates into them having poor quali pace again come Saturday next week. They had excellent race pace and really good degradation by the end of the season last year but had poor quali pace.

Yeah. Even though the laptimes were quite fast, makes you wonder if they set the target times a bit low and it still could've been quicker. Alo did look like he was cruising around a bit. I'm having a hard time crushing my optimism at the moment.

I don't know how much fuel Ferrari where carrying, but it looked to me like AM (In Alonso hands) could be equal or faster than ferrari (In Sainz hands) in race pace next week.
The numbers don’t support this but OK.

Lance missed all test runs & not able to provide any feedback.
Will that translate to Alonso pushing the team to develop the car as per his preference?

You think he wouldn’t anyway?
