This is graphically ALO v SAI race sim although SAI didn't do a real race sim as he didn't do the last stint.

To me it seems SAI was faster than ALO on C1. The very last stint for SAI was with the new floor I think, I don't know the fuel load but it doesn't show much degradation.
If you look at the speed traces I'm pretty sure the last run was on first stint fuel (160s into T6). Also, it was interesting when they went onboard for a full lap, SOC was at 100% many times during the lap; on the back straight into T14 there was zero deployment and therefore zero H or K recovery into 14 either. I guess that's what everybody's doing one way or another but interesting to get to know the way they do some sandbagging.

Hopefully they are not right like previous years.
If this is true coming Baku Ferrari will be behind Mercedes as they have already a major upgrade package in the pipeline (if it works of course).

Ferrari has always been incapable of recovering performance compared to the competition during the season. Hopefully it's not true. :D
So you’ve gone from testing to extrapolating performance of these cars by Baku?
If Mercedes is only 0.2s behind Ferrari, is highly likely that they will become faster during the season considering the past few seasons.

Of course i hope this report from Amus isn't true as it would make this 2023 season extremely boring.

This is in reference to day 1 only

could it be related to the high DF wing?

Not thinking so, Ferrari had porpoising due to extreme setups on day one

If that’s how you decide to interpret those results, be my guest. I find it extremely flawed though.

:D indeed to me Ferrari being only that far behind with suboptimal wing and far less car understanding than RB seems not too bad at all

It's still a personal prediction based on trends observed in past seasons and on a report from Amus which is only based on 3 testing session. They have been wrong in the past and i don't predict the future, so of course i could be wrong (i hope so).

Having said that, Ferrari struggling to keep up with developments against the competition in past season is pretty much a fact, therefore in order to have a chance for the WDC starting strong is almost mandatory. Remember you need to account for worse development, insane strategies and usually regulation changes that are against Ferrari.

Yea, let’s pack up everyone. You’ve analyzed it all in a highly professional fashion. Ferrari is 0.2 in front of Mercedes and will be behind come Baku. Come Abu Dhabi Ferrari will be behind Aston Martin and Alpine as well maybe because they can’t develop.

CFD eyes, driver body language/press quote interpretation, season long vehicle performance predictions from testing results, I guess we’re back.

I like making predictions, so i can come back and see where i was right and where i was wrong. In this particular case, as a Ferrari fan, hopefully i'm completely wrong.

Which porpoising from Ferrari? You mean that little porpoising which they had on first day when they were testing extreme setups? No team had porpoising to extents it affected their performance. Porpoising is history.
