Is the FAston Martin pace real?
according to Sam Collins (I don't know how he gets those kind of info) they are runing around 9 kgs more fuel than RB
He said 9kg less fuel than rb
if true, that's 3 tenths. 1kg means 0,034s per lap on this track, according to the test analysis I saw the other day.

but even that could still be enough to get a podium

... then pray for it.
I honestly dont want that. I would like margins much larger and more mixed field instead trough whole season. Nothing is worse than 5 drivers which are eliminated because of 0.0xx slower lap.
I think that is the opposite, that is utterly brutal and that is how quali should be... 0.001 slower, you lose. How breath-taking would it be that Q1 is as crazy as Q3?
I've thought alot about this. The single metric that I've found that would determine the excitement of a season would be how close the qualifying times are. Q3 covered by 2 tenths would have 10 winners that season!

Pole: 29 low?

I'd agree. 29.0 seems achievable.

Last year RB improved 3s from fp1 to Q3. I think low 29s is pushing it.

Not gonna happen, I see more Alonso causing problems to any split strategy situation for Ferrari or Mercedes (and Perez)

Interesting that Alonso only did 311 km/h down the main straight on his best lap.

I'm sure all the cars were running their PUs in lower power modes. We won't see the high modes until tomorrow.

How's the AMR looking? I missed FP1. But going by the results, Alonso is in the mix. He may be fighting Perez, Leclerc, HAM and Russel throughout the season. Things look ominous for Verstappen. Drop 3 tenths to any time Perez is capable of doing and you know the true gap to the second team.
For Sure!!
