At what point do we get nervous about the gap between Lando and Oscar? 0.8s in FP1 and FP2 so far on the same tires (yes yes I know super early BUT....)
Give the lad some time it’s his first season

Was just about to say that. He’s keeping up with Ferrari too. All circling around 38.0s. RBs are about 0.6-0.7s ahead mind you. Still lots of optimism about the pace. Excited now to see if we can leap forward relative to others. Season is a go guys and girls

Btw let's all remember how team usually did not really push for maximum qualy pace on Fridays. Usually McLaren does better in qualy then in FP2.

Can't wait to see the F2 details ling long run / mini sectors / etc. I think Mclaren is not that bad as everybody thought before the season.

Right now I think their is a 5-6 tenth deficit for Oscar, but I don't know if anyone was expecting him to be right on pace with Lando straight away

Oscar's pace proves, yet again, that Lando is the real deal.
We also need to remain patient with him, it is going to take a couple of races for him to get up to speed. Hopefully by the summer break Oscar can be fully up to speed.

That would have been a very tall ask… It’s his first F1 weekend, probably at this point still building speed (not much different than how Lando was bedded in the Team during his first season.

A lot of speed in F1 comes from confidence, in the car and most importantly in yourself… Getting to trust the car limits and how you handle those is a process and it won’t happen in just a couple of races.

On the other hand, we all saw the gap last year against a veteran racer, based on that it is actually a good start.

Very tight field! Even tighter on long run pace. Was not expecting this at all after testing. Still some doubts on engine modes then
