2023 will be a write-off for Merc and introducing a new concept this year may even push the car further back as the team will have to go through the learning curve to understand the new car design.
We've not even had the first race yet (plus this topic is in the wrong place) #-o
We have now…

The W14 is really a W13 B spec. It does not bounce so it is clear this concept won’t ever be 1 second a lap quicker. It is slower than the benchmark RB car. Time to end this technical humiliation. A W14 B spec is needed asap so that they challenge for the championship next year.
One day AI might be able to fix the W13 zero pod concept !

Very poor race from the car, slow and poor tyre management, they haven't got a prayer this season have they?
Obviously not. Just focus on 24’ now. Waste of time, effort and resources trying to bridge this size of gap.
For me, just give up on the car now and big push for next season.
Please not this again. This strategy of giving up and focusing to next year is senseless. Next year is still an evolution of this car. Why should they stop now? They should keep pushing and get as close to the front as possible. No one is likely catching rbr in these sets of regs. So you just try and learn as much as you can now imo. 2026 will still involve ground effects so it’s important to get on top of it. You don’t do that by giving up now and starting another car that will likely be even more behind.

What does a B spec car mean for them though? They can arguably be fighting 2nd-4th this season. Should the other teams also have a B spec since they are so far away from RB?

I'm not trying to be a wise guy...genuinely curious what the technical people here expect when "B-spec" or "different concept" is mentioned.

If they pulled the plug now the car would be out in Q1 every qualifying session by the time we get to Spa

They favoured Hamilton in both pitstop phases which allowed Russell to be undercut twice. That's why Russell ended up behind stroll

Pull it, this season is a waste, it'll be a copy of what we have now, in 24.

Start from scratch, but first thing first: hire some new people Merc! It's clear the drainage has taken its toll

George had the chance to overtake Lewis while he was right behind him, which he didn't

It looked like they were holding position to be fair. Too early in the race to be scrapping.

We are well and truly in the RBR dominance era, Mercedes won't be able to bridge this gap with the budget cap in place. Lewis will have to wait till 2026.

Yep, how often do you see teammate passes without an offset? He should’ve driven the first stint differently, but like Mexico last yr he consigned himself to a sh1t race by being poor on the opening lap.

I bet if George was plain faster, merc would have surely have let him have a crack at sainz. So he clearly wasn't

Russell messed up the start, and then seeing Hamilton in front, he tried to rectify it by setting purple’s sectors everywhere, destroying the tyres, and ultimately his race. It was like he thought it was sprint race, not full race distance. Really poor.

Terrible race. My hope is this isn’t the real W14 but W13B - like a Silverstone update that never made it onto the car. If not, it’s going to be bad. The midfield have a better chance of catching up vs Merc moving forward frankly.
