Changing topics completely… Alonso showed today that a customer team can beat the works team :)

Pace looked good, even with all the issues. Looking forward to the next one!

McLaren really need to shake up their technical department.
The last couple of years they've designed conservative and not very good cars.
I miss the times when Tim Goss and Jonathan Neale was at McLaren, always trying to innovate and be bold with their designs.

Is it still Prodromu who's in charge of the aero? He needs to be replaced

Aston was bought 2 years ago. Force India also had financial problems. They seem fine.

Yeah, AM were brought by a billionaire who has pumped lots of money in. And the car has, until today, been pretty average. But, Stroll brought them in 2018.

… McLaren deserves the harshest criticism, what is happening is absolutely unacceptable.
Formula 1 is all about being competitive and if one is not delivering, you can bet that harsh measures are taken. Or do you think there is no internal criticism? You think the owners are happy? You think Zak is telling everyone what a fantastic hell of a job they’re doing?

This is competitive enough of a sport to realise that any constructive criticism you can think of, is already shared within the team and if needed, Zak will make brutal choices to ensure they don’t happen again. But only the ones within the team know where to really point fingers at. Not us here.

Good pace indeed, bring on next race!
To do something well is so worthwhile that to die trying to do it better cannot be foolhardy. It would be a waste of life to do nothing with one's ability, for I feel that life is measured in achievement, not in years alone. ― Bruce McLaren

Heh, time flies. Anyways, what I want to say, if you want to find a reason why some team is not doing well, you will find such reason easily.
If RB were slow - easy reason, they won last year late development, got financial penalty for budget etc.
Ferrari is slow? - ofcourse personal changes, politics
Merc slow - bad aero concept
AM slow - they are new team, new team boss, new driver, not completed infrastructure...
whatever, you can find reason for any team you think of, if you try hard enough
that does not mean all teams are slow and it should not be used as a justification for being slow

regarding Landos pace - I hope it was not caused just by him not needing to manage tyres, since he was boxing nonstop

Today's race showed that no updates will allow us to gain speed in the fight for 4th place, we lose a lot, plus we have a number of problems with qualifying, speed on the straights and tire control. Management must draw conclusions and take action, but I don't see anything better than to abandon this season and start preparing for the next one. Catch up with the top 4 is not realistic!

2 consecutive years where our preseason is at least inappropriate for an F1 team, and not just for McLaren. And this has been reflected today.

I think that if you don't see that there is something wrong with the McLaren F1 technical team, you don't want to see it. There is a proverb in Spain that says "there is no worse blind person than the one who does not want to see"

How did the race today showed that no updates can bring them forward? The over reactions are incredible today.
