Scarbs says in the latest Peter Windsor video post-bahrain "what will Ferrari/Mercedes do" that Merc have a floor upgrade coming for Saudi Arabia.
It better be true!

After than s***show in Bahrain they must act quickly to be faster @ any cost !

I am still convinced mb Amg can make their concept go much faster! These talented engineers and the wind tunnel can’t lie that much !

Maybe what Lewis wants is not possible with the current rule set.
Does anyone know what he wants? His driving style from his early years seems to have matured so much that it's hard to tell.
He said he wants a certain balance in medium speed turns. This is aerodynamic, mechanical, differential, suspension. Engineers should get cracking.

Do you know when they are bringing their mercury suspension? That could of be great use to solve that problem.

Indeed. The mecury susepnsion is a very sensitive topic over the years. That's a technology that is "legal" but is a crime if you know what I mean.

The driver is the best sensor on the car.
The team can solve their issues by listening to the drivers. It's clear their tools for transient behavior in the car are poor or just nonexistent.
They need go depend on the driver to provide feedback for information that they simply cannot gather from their current tools.
But Floor, undersidepod outwash and suspension seem to be where the problems lie.

A cheap and early fix before the major update is to reprofile the mid wing. It needs more camber nearer the ends. They can also change it to a multi airfoil wing for higher efficiency. All this to generate more downforce and down wash.
For Sure!!

It's real surprisingly:

One would hope to see them:
a) De-escalate the situation by encouraging the fans to just see the sport as sport and leave the disappointment behind when the live stream cuts.
b) Diffuse the pressure and expectation that fans have of "winning again" when they can't be certain in order to avoid a feeling of false promises like they gave last season.

With that said, I think they've done the opposite:
Third, we will be calling on each one of you, too, to power us to the front.

Wow. Interesting. Things must be bad for them to apologise to all the fans after just 1 race.

They got complacent. Now its the real world and see how the team works when its under pressure. Not riding the waves of success that Brawn built.

Surely it'll be very tight to run 2 cars in development within the cost cap?

His budget cap remarks are a word salad. A team looking to make up a 1 second deficit in a single season is going to be constrained by the budget cap.

Doesn’t the quote you posted specifically state that developing two cars is exactly what they are not going to do?

It's basically a case of they'll pick which design to go with in a matter of weeks (not months) and will then
pour all of their resources into that. Anything that was in the pipeline for the current W14 design has probably been shelved, apart from the stuff that's already in production and is too late to stop.

What happens to other car and driver? Or will they alternate the car being developed between drivers?

As I read it, they mean a single car ‘concept’ or development direction. To be honest (and completely fair to the team) this is exactly what the trials & tribulations of 2022 were about - sorting the tools (models, simulations, correlations), in order to make a step; which they have, unquestionably done.

Give them a chance to allow for similar feedback - the field is much closer (based on raw qualifying pace) than ever.
Perspective - Understanding that sometimes the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.
