C4s looked like they can go a good distance in the race, specially if you add the fact that the race will be during night time.
Indeed. Will anyone try the Soft-Medium strat? AKA the Sam Collins "he has to pit again" strategy

to check whether or not their gearbox/electronics issues from Bahrain have returned which seemed to only appear on the quali/race engine mode. 334 km/h in quali last year at Jeddah, 337 in Fp1 this year; it is hard to imagine they are not using the top engine mode

Maybe not that much. Seems like they've opted for the slightly higher DF rear wing compared to Bahrain.

Higher DF, but the question is for which drag penalty. It probably produces more DF with less drag by flexing more.

The flexing is strictly regulated nowadays, doubt there is much of any vertical flex in that wing. The main-plane is clearly more squared off, which would suggest slightly more downforce for slightly more drag. They might compensate for that with a weaker beam wing, but I doubt Ferrari will be hitting 340 come quali.

What’s the purpose of the single pillar in your opinion? And why would they opt for a higher DF rear wing than in Bahrain?

Seems like Ferrari was definitely running a more conservative FP1 than the other teams.

Hopefully we’ll see more representative runs in a couple of hours. This track should suit the car well, at least in theory.

Red Bull still looks a league ahead of the Aston. The AMR23 seems to have similar characteristics to the F1-75 though. That will be a good thing at shorter tracks.

The problem with Ferrari running so conservatively, is that issues go undetected unless you turn it up. Running the PU in such an off state like this gives poor insight into the temperatures/cooling requirement, vibrations, harvesting, etc etc. There is a lot of danger in running too far off what your car is supposed to do.
