Both ran S for their runs, with Carlos going on hards with 2 mins left till the end of the session (at least the timings apps said so), but yeah, really good deg, basically negative deg. PU clearly turned down as they were 6-8 kph down on Mercs, yet clearly the faster car by at least 4 tenths (LEC quite a bit more). Keep in mind that temps were still higher compared to race time.JPower wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 16:33The deg looks pretty much nonexistent on the end of session runs. LEC running S, SAI on H. Both were a good 3 tenths ahead of Mercedes on similar tires by my very unofficial count.
Don’t know what that means against RB and Aston though.
All drivers seeming to have trouble with T22.
Absolutely. Way better than Bahrain. Just seems sluggish out of the corners, but rear stability seems on point. Does indicate that Ferrari is running in a lower engine mode with a cut on acceleration (similar way to Bahrain).
It’s worrying for the season if they need to use completely gutless PU modes in free practice. You don’t need to run full power but what Ferrari is doing seems a bit extreme, as if they have an issue they are nursing.
A super pro tip is to look at other times. You’ll realize that cars like the Haas or the Alpine are clearly faster than Ferrari right now. This should show you that Ferrari’s times are far off from their true pace.
Yes Ferrari has good race pace, but the field as a whole is very close on that. Makes me think small differences actually mean a lot here
