Even though his PU failed it's kind of disappointing to see the team getting rid of Russel out of Hamilton's way wit a too early pit stop and also the FIA giving a usual helping hand to Ham with a well timed red flag.
I strongly doubt the FIA was helping out Hamilton with the red flag.

The only thing that would have made the race interesting was seeing Russell on fresh tires to the end after the first safetycar, vs Verstappen who owed a pitstop. There was never going to be a competition between Hamilton and Verstappen. Verstappen too quick in a straight fight.
Somehow, they always do. With red flags, VSC, SC, all sorts.

Really? You don't think it was simply the team pitting the lead car under the sc to gain time in the stop? Seriously. Get a grip.
It was far to early to be advantageous. That only Ferrari did the same should be a rather obvious indication...

Was it? Even if he didn't beat Max, he would have had something like a free 15 seconds on Hamilton with no stops remaining. Mercedes always give the preferred strategy to the driver ahead.

Russel made his gambles as usual. He was delusional to think he could challenge for the win.
You are assuming it was George's call to pit. Was there a radio from George to pit him?
The radio was clear, it was a team call. The team called him in with a box box, without any discussion, then after passing Albon Russell commented along the lines of: R: "What position are we in?" E:"Currently P7" R:"Bold call, I like it".
30 seconds later he didnt like it as much as the red flag came out, but thats life, you win some, you lose some.

Also:-

Meanwhile, George Russell has tweeted as he watches the podium celebrations.

"Proud of this team," the 25-year-old writes. "We had what it took to win this race today, especially with the decision to pit under the SC. We'll continue to fight, our time will come."

Seems to be in agreement with his team to me :D

George has a VERY bullish/optimistic spirit. I don't think anything wrong with it. That's just his personality.

Russell can’t complain. He had advantageous results last year, thanks to three SC situations last year that massively benefitted him. Hamilton had the deficit last year, and, this year, it looks like it’s Russell’s turn. Interesting to see if he can overturn it.

As for thinking he can win, yes, it’s a positive mindset & optimistic, but ridiculously delusional.

He can complain about the PU letting go. It never happens to Hamilton.

Yeah that wasnt a good call by Merc imo. George would have had some traffic to clear hence would have lost time. And Im sure max would have unleashed the real pace of the rb19 if it ever came to that situation, and when you have max on fresh hards vs russels mercs on older hards, with approximately 30 laps to go, even with an optimistic 15sec deficit i think max would have closed that gap and get him with a few laps to spare.

He would’ve ve beaten hamilton though. Unfairly but yeah.

Hamilton had an hydraulic issue in Abu Dhabi, while ahead of Russell. He blew in Malaysia costing him a title against Rosberg. It does happen to Hamilton. It’s motorsport.

When I said it doesn't happen to Hamilton, I just mean he has far fewer issues than average, not that he never had a retirement.

Also, Hamilton's hydraulic issue in AD was likely caused launching himself into the air over the sausage kerb on lap 1.

I'm not saying there is any conspiracy here. I'm just pointing out Hamilton statistically has very few car issues.

Any hit like that can cause a butterfly effect. Do we know for sure that it did? No, but it sure didn't help, and I wouldn't rule it out entirely just because Mercedes claim it didn't. They can't truly know.

When was the last time they said it was Lewis' mistake? We saw the damage a similar impact caused in Spa last year after his collision with Alonso.
