Vodaphone McLaren Mercedes MP4-24

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I'd say the problem is one or two levels below Whitmarsh/Brawn. It's about who they select to head up each design team.
I'm going to disagree,

The current car has aero issues, but it's the same guy who heads up of aero as in previous years winning cars..
I agree!

My premise is that when people have been in place for a while, they sometimes things need a shake up. An outsider to come in and bring fresh air. In my experience (I work for an engineering design consultant) you don't need a know-it-all or whizz kid, but someone who holds up a mirror to you so you see your design for yourself through fresh eyes. It's all about opening people's eyes, not telling them what to do, and definitely not sacking people.

Whitmarsh: “We hebben enkele grote namen aangetrokken op technisch gebied, want het was nodig.

Dutch, it says that they attracted some new people (technicall staf) because it was necesarry.

This depends on the track, Monaco where aero efficiency is not that important and teams crank on every available ounce of downforce via the cars wings, then, not that much difference between them. Tracks where teams rely on the 'free' downforce from the diffuser and the aero efficiency of the wings such as Turkey, probably about a second and a bit off the BGP pace.

Nope. Here's what Hamilton had to say:
"We fully expect next weekend to be very difficult. Firstly, Silverstone is one of the fastest courses on the calendar and it's clear that our car doesn't behave well through fast corners. It's also harder to harvest KERS there than at other circuits because there's not too many heavy braking spots - to give you an idea, we don't touch the brakes from the exit of Luffield right down to Stowe - about half the circuit - and there are no slow exits followed by long straights where you can use KERS for a boost. It will be difficult, but I'm looking forward to just racing in my home country, in front of my home fans, enjoying Linda's home cooking and soaking it all in."

Skeptical scrutiny is the means, in both science and religion, by which deep thoughts can be winnowed from deep nonsense.

mods to the front wing and to the floor apparently, i'm guessing this is not the big upgrade

is the front wing the problem since they keep changing it or will the big mod be a complete redesign of the rear end?

good move on this track, test it out and see, they have to totally rebuild the car after friday practice anyway so it wont be too hard to refit it if they decide it would decrease lap times.

Probably due to the fast corners such as the Beckets/Maggots section and Stowe, not to mention Bridge, as it probably aids cooling and aero efficency.
