The fact that it's being called "debris" cracks me up.
It up there wit calling it a 'RUD' incident (rapid unscheduled disassembly) .
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

I just find the idea of foreign debris making its way past the air filters, compressor and intercooler without exploding the compressor into a million pieces a little difficult to believe, personally.
Next to impossible without complete carnage.

Possibilities are.... valve dropped, spark plug failed dropping ceramic down, no spark causing det/supersonic knock? (might be a little extreme for fully blown failure but could melt a piston), injector failure.
Why?
The report is debris...a sharp piece of CF can easily cut through the air filter and pass intercooler and turbo without issue. The issue is then the valve.

That’s a lot of hoops it has to go through before it reaches the engine. It has to pass a turbo impeller at 200k+ rpm to start with. Then pass through the intercooler, I’ve no idea how big the air tubes are on a F1 intercooler but they are narrow enough on a road car.

- Merc’s side pods may not change as much as you think
- the cockpit position may stay the same in W15

James Allison is back!

So Elliott is moved to a more hands-off role. Not surprising.

I wonder how long it will take Allison to right the ship. Shouldn't be more than 2 seasons

Allison has been back ever since it was first leaked 6 weeks ago. No chance he was just on the fringes, given what is needed to overhaul the car for next season.

Who knows, 2023 seems ambitious that's for sure. But similar to how people always exaggerate how important Newey is relative to the rest of the RB technical department, people might exaggerate the effect Allison will have.

he was doing debriefs last year in singapour, doesn't mean much but he was involved in W13
as CTO he works to plan for the future so maybe he was working on W15 since 2022

Duchessa reports also now on the rumours earlier this season
parts used in the wind tunnel (to scale) were inaccurate and produced outside the permitted tolerances. These problems have not only affected the development of the W14 but also in terms of correlation. This also led to the dismissal of some people who followed the production.
Obviously Italian media so they're much more reliable when it comes to Ferrari, but previously the info of the tolerances/Allison's inclusion had been lower quality sources iirc.

According to Mercedes, James Allison/Mike Elliott swap came into effect a few weeks ago.

If the parts were over sized, surely they could have been too small otherwise is there a regulation that stops a bigger model being run?
