I for one, couldn't be happier. Did those bozos, an S&M lawyer and a used car dealer, seriously thought they could take on five of the world's biggest car manufacturers?

Who's to say there will be 5 teams? Williams and Force India use Toyota and Mercedes engines respectively. They are also "suspended" members of FOTA who may join the new series when they have trouble retaining their commercial and technical supporters in a castrated F1.

The same goes with the incoming teams.

What is most interesting about the FOTA statement is that they claim the teams, drivers and sponsors are standing together. FIA F1 without sponsorship in the current economic climate will not last.

hopefully they were smart enough to have a clause to have a certain number of cars on the grid and certain teams! ie. SCUDERIA! otherwise, there are going to be some very very pissed off circuit owners and probably bankrupt.

I'd be curious to see the calender as well. hopefully we don't have as many asian races and boring Tilke circuits. bring back the historical races! MEXICO, ARGENTINA, AND CANADA! something other than Indy too but in the US.

Epic!

I think Lola may have gotten wind of this and removed their F1 bid to focus on a FOTA bid...

nothing new technical to talk about in the FOTA series, same rules as 2009 and no innovation at all

surely they will seek to unlock the engine freeze and push for new tire manufacturers to enter. they need to get away from the one make direction the FIA was imposing.

No Innovation? Perhaps I didn't understand the arguments in the other thread, but I'm sure FOTA wants to spend their uncapped budgets on innovating the cars to make them faster. And the restrictive rules have been imposed by Mosley, not the teams

3 liter V10s, wider tracks, smaller fronts ant fatter rears, the way it was before a lawyer started to impersonate an engineer.

Why do they seem to realize it when Ferrari & Red Bull dont?
You've seen their contracts?
Plus Ferrari can afford going to court and lose.

I saw the 1990 GP Mexico and would LOVE to see them race there again.

Canada? Yes.
U.S. at Indianapolis. No other track in the U.S. is right for F1.

Cosworth. They will still have all the relevant info from their previous use of the engines. If they want to stay in F1 for now they can.

2 orphaned fota teams, 3 new ones.

5 accepted unconditional entries to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
