Well... I'm not so sure Ron paid $100m. but that's beside the point.

Honestly, I'm starting to think that Ron, Mercedes and that Italian team may be in bed together to get rid of Max. Maybe they were behind that whole video thing. Any thoughts?

With the EU competition laws, there is no way to stop anyone to compete anywhere at any time.
MrE knows about this all too well.

And Tony George will have a field day, FOTA could probably run pro bono at IMS. Twice a year if needed.

Btw, I believe Road America is at Elhart Lake. The trial of champions, where you could actually behold a born and bred American haul a one ton 1200 Hp german-built monster around once upon a time.

Obviously, you cannot have an S&M, crypto-fascist, egomaniac as a representative for the FIA, Ron and whoever did what they had to do.

Maybe Force India may not have a future past this year

I'm so over the top by this Chap, in the way too early morning, I guess the Fosters keep me ranting.

My mistake. Road America is Elkhart Lake. I was thinking of Atlanta. I'm sure F1 would make a big splash down in Georgia (actually, I'm serious) but Elkhart seems a better fit.

Everyone would agree that Elkhart Lake is in the middle of nowere in cheesehead country, FGD.

But Road Atlanta could be another serious proposal.

Yeah, but I'm talking about a great race track. I bet if you asked any driver who has raced at Elkhart Lake and Road Atlanta and they'd say Road Atlanta doesn't hold a candle next to Elkhart Lake.

But realistically, Indy is still the best choice. Unless they can find a good route through NYC. Maybe Monaco will be replaced by racing along the Hudson River.

Breakaway series is a great news. Bernie knows value of car companies for the success of F1 or of new series. What do you think guys about Bernie joining breakaway series bringing F1 name and then leaving FIA/Max to take care of FIA governed seires? I believe Bernie has rights to F1 name and he will go where money is.

The great thing with this FGD, is that we will have transparency, no venue will be chosen on grounds of how much money one hood can transfer to another.
Riverside california is obviousy gone, but Laguna seca and an upgrade of Watkins glen?

Btw, I saw that 1200 hp thing at Road Atlanta as well, driven by another American. Miraculous.

Anybody recall the extraordinary council meeting where they were voting to decide Moseley's future? As I recall, didn't some Arab sheik or whatever essentially buy votes from the poorer African nations in favour of Moseley?

I wonder what they were playing at then...

Couple that with the video of Max - I think that there's some very big players making some big moves behind the scenes. But what are they playing at? Surely more than some car races...

If I were FOTA I would tell FI and Williams to compete in FIA F1 with a token car running a Cosworth engine. I would buy out their engine supply contracts and deny them the ability to use them in the FIA series. Simultaneously, I would offer them sweet heart engine deals to compete in FOTA GPWC. Williams and FI can run a year old junk car with FOTA GPWC stickers as their livery on an annual budget of $500K + Cosworth's charge. They could fulfil the bare minimum of their contracts with FOM/FIA very cheap.... approximately for the same "cost" that their new TITLE sponsor... FOTA would pay them to put the stickers on their cars. Imagine all the team personnel at the FIA races wearing FOTA labels. Imagine all the literature in the entry lists referring to "Team FOTA Williams" and "Team FOTA Force India"! They could have so much fun making a mockery of the FIA/FOM series and there is not a thing Max's lawyers could do to stop them.

FOTA would have a full grid of every current F1 team.... and Max couldn't do anything about it. Bernie can copyright "F1" all he wants. The teams, the drivers, the heritage, the prestige, the glory will all be located in the FOTA GPWC series. They even have Monaco. And Canada, USA and Nurburgring and Imola and Spa and France... it will be easy and fun to compete with the FIA/FOM series as a business venture.

If I were FOTA, and since ticket prices yield a relatively low percentage of the revenue stream (TV and sponsors produce most of the revenue stream), Friday, at Silverstone, I would announce to all the fans that next year's GPWC ticket prices across the board will be half of the cost of today's FIA/FOM ticket prices.

Watkins Glen would be nice but a throwback to a different era. Racing on a great track is one thing. Pulling in a crowd and sponsorship is another.

I trade my left nut to see them at Road Atlanta. Haven't been there since I was about 10 years old, and the most glorious sound I heard was a Ferrari 333 (I think, it's been awhile) and it's the best racecar noise I've ever heard. Maybe with this breakaway we'll get decent TV coverage, less politics, and better racing. Not saying this year hasn't been great for the flipping of the heavyweights on the grid, but only two winners? C'mon!
