In part this is wonderful news. In part this is bad news.

who will manage the rules of the FOTA series ?
the FOTA ?

Who will have the TV rights for the sport ?
I want to see it!

Tracks and other infrastructure, who can arrange this ?

And before you answer "FOTA has Ferrari", please remember that they were also in GPWC, before signing on to the new deal with (the now-disputed) veto rights.
The difference is the this time the teams are standing united, so much so they have put up a 50 million dollar bond. Last time Eccelstone managed to get Ferrari to secretly break ranks, and the GPWC was only 6 teams, not the current 8, or possible 10.

i feel sorry for BBC, only their first year, and all hell breaks lose, and they are suddenly looking at an empty race series, which is a shame really, BBC has been doing a good job,but no more f1....bbc will be very gutted
but then again, maybe Fota will broadcast it on normal teely,,well they do want audiences right?

Odds on the BBC has a clause that says 'KEY TEAMS' in it....like the italian TV has.

Besides - i bet FOTA will give them the rights for nothing.....

Also...odds on USF1 dont show in F1 or pro drive, lola, etc - and if there are only 2 teams, then all the contracts are blown out of the water

Just opened my eyes and saw THIS ! ! ! (sorry for the capitals giblet)
Is this the greatest day in modern F1 ever?
Is this a day to be cautious and patient until the whole thing actually kicks off?
Is this the day every F1 fan in the world obtained a permanent "durex" smile on their faces?
Are we going to be let down by the FOTA?
Are we going to have to wait a looong time for everything to be sorted out in courts around the world before we see some racing?

Well, I don't care! THIS sounds great! THIS sounds amazing! Almost too good to be true!

Is there any chance the FOTA teams will walk away before the end of this year's championship - kinda like Montoya, to go "practicing for their new duties"?

Does anyone really doubt Prodrive and Lola are already "in" the new series?

And can we please have arrangements for Spa and Suzuka races to be held twice a year, once in a "dry" and once in a "wet" time of year?
:D :D :D

I'm sure we'll see some of the great tracks return to the series as the FIA probably has contracts with all the Tilke/--- tracks around the world. Good riddance.

Seriously? I thought we were done with that. Move on andertop. Don't troll please.

As for wet races, again, why willingly schedule races during times rainy enough to have them rained out so no fans get to see a race that no drivers finish?

You'll get wet races anyway, no need to try to make them happen.

Finaly!!!

This is great news! But i have my worrys, currently there are only 8 teams which makes 16 cars, which is abit poo. I also worry that we are going to see the next few month of Crap ruling by the FIA and the stewards to get back at the teams (i know it sounds abit school yard, but this is the FIA they do tend to have a history of stuff like this)

Oh by the way Tomba, is this the fastest growing post in F1Technical History?

Hey ticket prices might be affordable once again!

One last thing, Fingers crossed this goes the same was as the english premier league and Moto GP, Not the way Cart and IRL went.

PS: Do you think they will ban max from turning up to there new races.

The FIA has noted the latest press statement from FOTA.
The FIA is disappointed but not surprised by FOTA’s inability to reach a compromise in the best interests of the sport. It is clear that elements within FOTA have sought this outcome throughout the prolonged period of negotiation and have not engaged in the discussions in good faith.
The FIA cannot permit a financial arms race in the Championship nor can the FIA allow FOTA to dictate the rules of Formula One.
The deadline for unconditional entries to the 2010 FIA Formula World Championship will expire this evening.
The 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship entry list will be announced tomorrow.

Although the decision to ditch Max and Bernie is probably the right one. I think that some of Max's proposals for 2010 did have merit.

For example, I don't think that allowing teams to spend practically unlimited amounts of money is a good idea. It doesn't take a genius to see that this will benefit the big car manufacturers and leave small teams behind (unless of course, the series will only include big car manufacturers).

Max's proposals on the other hand, do encourage innovation. By limiting the maximum budget (to 100M, per his latest proposal) and loosening the technical regulations, engineers will be able to seek out conceptual advances in motor racing whilst still ensuring that the team with the brightest management/engineers win, not the one with the most money.

In short I think that unlimited budget + unrestricted rules = very very bad idea.

Instead, use Max's proposal (100M budget cap) and loosen up the regulations. That should be good enough.

CART fell apart due to lack of Indy 500.
Although I'd think that the Monaco GP is less important to the sponsors than the Indy 500 was. The new F1 would have many more historic tracks to go to: Imola, Montreal, Suzuka, Silverstone, etc, etc
