It really is quite laughable that not a peep or even a slightest whiff of this very bad news (for BE Rumplestiltskin) can be seen on the official (possibly-soon-to-be-defunct) Formula1.com.

Here is a depressing quote. Although it is from autosport, which means its credibility has to be questioned.
Ecclestone's role in events is being seen as crucial now, with sources close to FOTA suggesting that the body would not be averse to him playing a role in its new championship.

FOTA would do well to ditch the odious little ---. He is not worth the hassle and money.

The thought has already crossed our minds... :D (thanks for this drawing to my friend Manchild, photoshopper extraordinaire, someone we miss here and who created the current logo):

Manchild's art work looks like "FOCA".... hmmmm. The irony of fonts or intentional artistic subtlety?

What's the problem? This is new series and organizers are free to manage TV rights any way they want.

With so many TV channels around, I think they can sort it out.

The biggest killer is time, IMHO

The problem will be that many TV companies will have contracts with FOM. Some of these may have get-out clauses for the TV companies if Ferrari or ANOther team is not involved as mentioned on this forum before. FOTA will have to sell the TV rights and convince TV companies to stump up extra cash (rare at the moment) to show a motorsport series. If they already have not signed with FOM then motorsport may not be in their plans. Maybe FOTA will offer rights at rock bottom prices for the first few years?
Maybe this an area where Bernie can help? Cut his ties with FIA? Depending on what the 100 year rights deal says.

I don't think that time is that critical either. It's not that they have to find teams to fill the field and build the cars. 9 moths is quite an adequate time to cherish a new series to me)))

All I can say is WOW, I've been waiting for this to happen for years. Maybe we might have proper fast cars again, lots of under car areo and engines that you need to drive the car rather than on off throttle most of the time!

I'd love a dedicated channel now which you pay for but full HD and lots of selected camera views.

Trust me, You put something on the wrong Channel in the UK and watch is popularty Drop! There is loads of cases of this. BBC are Tied in with FOM, Maybe the can get out maybe they cant. Where are they going to go, ITV? Who are Nearly bankrupt, Same goes for 4, Channel 5 i wont even go there. Sky?, So i would have to pay Even more money too them. Sorry this post is aimed at the uk market, i dont no much about TV stuff outside the uk.

So i think it is an issue.

I think i can live with Bernie, As long as he never utter the words medal system (which would of made this season all but over, hahaha, That how much of a good idea it was) Again.
I believe in the chain of command, Its the chain I use to beat you till you do what i want!!!

I think the TV stations depending on the contracts will probly go with FOTA since the FIA will no long provide them with proper racing and the same spectacle as this year. it will be US gp 2005 every single race, you could probly use the time to show new movies to get more people to watch them.

My view is that they need the 9 months to set up a governing body, regulations, sponsors, worldwide TV contracts, tracks, logistics, and so on.

Then again, my understanding of it is limited.

Anyway, there are so many countries, race tracks, TV channels. Despite all this financial crisis, if we remove Bernie's share in the deal, a smaller contract would still be more profitable for the teams.
