On the small updates vs. large packages plan; I do wonder if AM spent a larger portion of their 2023 budget on the launch car and sacrificed their development budget a bit for the season.
Good question. We were promised "2/3rds of a car" though.

Honestly forgot about that. I guess we'll see how this pans out. I'm sure for more than one reason they have Barcelona circled for decent updates.

They have a chunk of wind tunnel time. Hard to believe it will be small updates throughout the year. A big stonking one must be coming after summer.

With more wt time, isn't it just more iterations before manufacturing? I'd expect the build costs to be the same.

Didn't they say they were going to be aggressive with upgrades?

i think either

lot of wind tunnel time or budget was used up in pre season itself (which could be untrue as they said at launch they will change 2/3rd of car in season)

or

After first few races they understood car properly and analysed that for them to bring big improvements they need to do big changes like B spec or almost new car and decided to switch to 2024. This seems more reasonable as we could see that with low drag wing they lost out in low speed corners in Baku and Miami (2nd sector's) where as in Bahrain they were fastest or equal with RB in slow stuff. This also says that they need to improve floor and depend less on bodywork generated downforce.

You cannot do that, each ATP is 8 weeks only

Motorsport-magazin.de ist just recycling past quotes of Fallows. They have actually no clue what AM will bring, like all others.

AM judged the weather very well in Advance in Imola hence no update here in Imola and Monaco. They will get update in Spain.

I think they got a bit lucky...There is no one who predicted this. Upgrade packages are decided months in advance.

Im very interested to see how much AM technical dept. can develop this car. No doubt Fallows is the main man behind the design but he came with a lot of insight from RB/Newey. It'll be interesting to see where they can go once they move beyond that knowledge. That'll determine whether the great leap they made at the start of this season was a one off or an indicator of sustained rise towards the top.
