The Italian press suggest that Binotto is a candidate for Alpine F1 Team:

Wasn't it also mentioned that Binotto refused?
Below Pat Fry(CTO) is the Technical director, Matt Harmon. Matt manages Enstone and is above Famin (CV). He is responsible for vehicle performance. From the interview last year with Pat Fry, he spends most of his time trying to improve processes. He naturally overseas everything that Matt does.

Pretty sure they had input in the structure. As a leader, you're always preparing a number 2.

Lot of people say that the best place for F1 is to be in motorsport valley of england. But with 6 teams based there and Technocenter Renault Guyancourt, with only 2 teams doing well and not much talent left to go around in the other 4, Alpine needs to think of moving to tr and work with the French talent rather than competing for the few engineers available in the england.

Alpine should take a page out of Honda and use F1 engine and chassis divisions as training grounds for engineers and it will be best to be working out of the head design center rather than spread over many areas. They should be also looking at moving Viry, closer to other engine works of Renault as to capitalize on synergies

The french talent will just move to UK if they want to work at Alpine.

That makes sense!

Unless there is a long term plan with Oreca, the logical start would be to cancel the Oreca Alpine LMDh and build a Alpine LMH in-house at Viry as part of developing the skills and processes in house? :)

The Enstone factory could fetch a good price when sold to Honda or Andretti or similar? :?:

Could the problem with the Alpine F1 Team be that it is not nearly French enough and it needs to be much more French!

Oreca shows the depth of engineering talent found in France.

Beyond a superficial marketing level I don’t understand the intense desire to turn Alpine/Enstone into the “French National Team.” Maybe it’s because I’m not French, who knows. But surely someone who thinks so highly of himself as Rossi does must have seen Ferrari try to become “more Italian” with nothing to show for it. Why repeat the same mistakes, with less budget and resources compared to Ferrari? It doesn’t make any sense; the country where the team principal’s passport comes from has no bearing on their ability to lead a group of engineers and extract performance from a race car.

I think Rossi and Benedetto Vigna would be great friends; they both seem to want to micromanage a major sports organization, want to take the credit when it goes well, and absolve themselves of responsibility when it doesn’t.

In reality a very nice part of these small islands to live, whatever work that may be invloved. More west across rural oxfordshire with beautiful villages. I was over there recently to collect some locally scourced timber in rare varieties and found it pretty desirable.
Doesn't mean there's nothing in comparison in France, love visiting there, but certainly no hardship to live and work in Alpine UK location.
Drove past successively in location Brabham, Cooper and McLaren on the way, returned past Tyrell too :D

Renault is partly owned by the French Government. I suppose this (two French drivers for example) is necessary to justify the relatively extravagant costs of the Formula One project to the French press and public? Especially when Renault Group had been making cuts elsewhere!

It is not a good look to spend 100+ m EUR on a Formula One project while closing a Renault production facility in France. (Not so bad if the facilities are closed in Spain etc though. :wink: )
