With this weekend's Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix not going ahead we are rewinding 18 years to showcase a classic race
from the Imola archives.
Relive one of Fernando Alonso's early defining moments on a race track as he battled seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher for supremacy in a compelling race.

A charity event and not wanting to promote yourself taking part from the pinnacle of motorsports a bit strange.

Guarantee all these drivers have a sim rig in the house these days.

I bet not every F1 driver has a sim rig at home. And if you don't race these games regularly, you're not going to be competitive so pointless for those drivers to be involved.

Frankly, it would be more profitable for the charity if these rich guys just got their wallets out.

It would be. But at least it gives the fans the chance to see their favourite driver take part in a charitable event. Where’s the fun in just throwing a million quid at something? You could do that, get public contributions and everyone can have a laugh along aswell and in a bit of ‘fun’ to go along with it.

The number of people evacuated due to flooding in northern Italy has risen to over 36,600.
It mainly concerns residents of the province of Ravenna.

About 100 municipalities in the northern region of Emilia-Romagna were damaged, reports the Italian news agency ANSA. At least fourteen people have died there.

The Emilia-Romagna region has experienced severe flooding and landslides from heavy rains this week. In some places the water has still not receded.

It is also raining this weekend. As a result, it is feared that rivers will again overflow their banks.
