If Sergio wants to get into Max's head again, now is the perfect time to pull a little "yellow" a Mirabeau. A petit roadblock if you will.
Yeah, but if he does it again, then RBR will most likely just kick him out.

Everyone gets a free pass for crashing in Q3 except for Leclerc and Perez  . I'd be pissed if they do it again.

Monaco probably the best reason to make Q3 a one lap shootout. Every one gets their lap, and none of the nonsense that’s gone on in previous years

Can't wait for another q3 to be decided by the polesitter causing a red flag =D>
Or even a simple yellow at an important moment. There's a good history of that, eh Michael, Nico...

You'd then get people moaning about track evolution or moaning because it rained more/less for one than another driver.

Just send people who crash to the back of the grid then.

A pole sitter causing a red flag will still be within the rules as are. It is up to the rule makers to eliminate such a possible situation.

Im surprised this rule hasnt been implemented yet. Bring out a flag you are at the back of the grid, or at least the back of the respective Q session you entered last.

Or just allow enough time in the programme to sort out the red flag issue and then reset the clock to allow people on a fast lap to go again.

They have no problem messing around with the formats on a weekly basis, but it seemingly takes years to decide how to make qualifying more fair…

If everything was perfectly fair, it would be worse for the show. Controversy/unexpected results drive more interest/discussion and promotion of the sport than anything else with the way social media is now, IMO. Those with the reigns - Domenicali et al. have little interest in fairness

Exactly. It's hardly rocket science to make sure everyone that wants to can get 2 fast laps in each qualifying session. And that doesn't mean going back to the hateful days of the one-lap qualifying.

I quite like the idea of just drawing grid numbers out of a hat.

I don't think that's true. The first half of 2021 and the first half of 2022 where we just had pure racing between Ham/Ver and Ver/Leclerc in cars that were close enough, didn't require any gimmicks, or lack of fairness to make the show great.

Call me weird but I don't think it would be fair at all to allow people to have another lap or penalize whoever crashed (intent aside) during qualifying but not during the race. Should Latifi have been penalized for his crash in AD? Should we penalize further whoever crashes nullifying a big gap? What about when the car breaks itself like Ocon's in Silverstone 2022 that caused LEC to lose a race he had all but won?

And if crashes are too much, what about the issue of SC coming out and you get to gain time and positions on others because it happens when you are close to the pit entry rather than just past it?

Nah... people crash, it's remarkably rare and if someone does it maliciously they should be disqualified from the race. Set a fast first lap so that's not a big problem.

How about we add 5 minutes to the qualifying session every time there is a red flag?
