Eh, I am in the camp which sees this as a lost opportunity. If the rumors about getting engines with Redbull ( I guess AUDI then?) are true, I like that even less. Switching to new engine manufacturer who will be only focused on RB and have McL as a side job does not sound good. At least with Merc you are getting known quality.

Every engine from 2026 can be considered new, for lack of a better term. I've come to accept that anything Red Bull do, they do extremely well. Looking at them as a racing team, the don't just have the best car with the best designer, they probably the best run team. Strategies, pit stops mechanics etc. I'm more confident in Red Bull producing a top engine than Audi. I wouldn’t mind McLaren gambling on them, to be honest.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Zak teased something exciting coming on the day the AM-Honda deal was announced. I would not at all be surprised if McLaren sign a 2026 engine supply agreement with Audi before the end of the year
Wasn't that about hiring new people?

When did a new engine supplier come in and smash it from the start.

I'd rather stick with something tested than jump in with Audi or anyone brand new

They didn't just hire guys out of engineering school, they've hired a lot of Mercedes and Honda guys, probably some from Ferrari as well. Don't know about smashing it, but I don't see it hindering them.

Mercedes made an anti-dive suspension. I wonder if McLaren is going to do this. Suspension is now the main thing for the effective operation of the floor.

Such a worthless company. Glad those nitwits have finished their audit again for our organisation. Good to see our money is being well spend though.

For Mclaren top 4 is gone from 2026!
If Mclaren can't secure another works manufacturer bye bye for Worldchampionships!!!
Last year I was hearing that BMW had begin a colaboration with Mclaren suplying them with engines for the road cars and that Hyunday might be interested in joining F1 in 26 but those rumors died unfortunatly.

This works deal, seems to have become some sort of mythical Nirvana all encompassing greatness. It's just no more than, something people cling onto.

A Honda deal almost killed Mclaren. A BMW deal almost killed Sauber and Williams.

See the below interview from Mike Krack:

In his media round in Monaco, he placed particular emphasis on the integration of engine development with chassis design:

"If you look at the engine regulations for the 2026 season and the chassis regulations that will be developed from them, you can see that full integration or at least a high degree of integration with the power unit is needed in order to to develop the chassis suitable for this regulation."

"If you have a working association, the flow of information is much more open, you get data sooner, for example on energy management, the aerodynamic configuration that you have to choose to achieve the right objective. It is a great advantage for this interpretation of the normative".

Also, Sauber won their only race and nearly a title with BMW.

And RBR won 4 titles with a customer engine. And Williams was regularly getting podiums a decade ago with a customer engine. And Alpine's works engine sucks. Enough with the blanket statements
