Didn't had the car for P2 "with Floor damage" you mean.. there was floor damage you know.. i don't know how much it was costing Alonso, but there was floor damage for sure.
Regarding Norris, that's true. Alonso would have needed a very magical S3 to get ahead of him. Norris was also very strong in S3. He actually had the best S3 of all, and he also messed his S3 in his final run. Norris could have been P2 with Alonso P3 or P4.
But with Alonso having floor damage. Don't forget that.
yeah, no idea how moch it cost time wise, but obviously the floor damage didn't help. So with "not a car for P2" I meant under today's circumstances (and against the competition left) in Q3.
Yes under the Q3 circumstances, i also believe Norris had a pretty good chance for P2 if he hadn't mess his S3.
It's no good to get sucked up into the coulda, shoulda woulda. It will bring no answers and certainly not a P2 now.
Perez should have made Q3. Leclerc should have made Q3. Hamilton should have been P2 but for his mistake. Norris should have been P2 for his mistake. Alonso should have been P2 for his mistake. We will never know.

Agreed.
Tomorrow, he may finish 2nd! but he could be out on lap 1 too.
So strategy for today? Does Alonso go flat out and do a 3 stopper because of the pace of the car or does he bide his time?
I think it depends on how easy they find it to overtake or not. Deg will be high so May well opt early for a 3 stop if overtaking is relatively easy.
Pink Floyd Pulse, great concert. Good name
Let's be honest, Fernando did a pretty poor job today. Besides the unforced mistake in Q1, his Q3 lap was also mediocre. I genuinely hope the damage can be repaired for tomorrow & he survives the first lap mayhem.
He did recon himself after quali he made 2 mistakes, first going off track and damaging the car, then at the fast lap of Q3 he made another mistake at turn 10. Otherwise he said p2 was perfectly possible, even with damaged floor, so for the race he´s quite positive about the pace
About the damage of the floor, Krack said when he asked about floor damage the reply was, "wich floor, half of the floor is missing"
Alonso is human and make mistakes, much less than the average F1 driver, but he´s human afterall. The positive part is AM is performing quite good in Montmelo and the race might be good
Specially if we consider Lecrerc, Perez and Rusell are starting the race from an even lower position, passing Haas, McLaren and Alpine, to fight for a podium with Hamilton is not out of the cards, quite difficult on a track like this, but possible for a driver like Alonso

second one probably due to floor damage and pushing too much under those circumstances, so I dont believe P2 was on the cards in any case.
