Hulk really showing his quality in qualifying. Would love to see him in a proper car. RedBull should give him a shot.
You probably know that Perez and Hulkenberg were both on the table when Albon was going out. Supposedly they chose Perez because he proved to not crack under pressure when in a winning position. But I rate Hulk higher indeed, but somehow he bodges it when driving at the front of the pack.

Based upon those generalisations, who do you think has the best options?
Track will be ‘green’, so will graining be an issue on higher fuel loads?

Mercedes looks to have a disadvantage today with tyres if that's the predicted strategies for the race

maybe, but Pirelli didn't even add their usual "fastest strategy" etc notes, so I guess they have no clue either

Could be Miami all over again, where hard to medium was the optimal strategy because of the track evolution throughout the race. Different situations though because Miami had a new track surface and in Canada it's just washed up by the rain. Should be interesting

They only fail on strat 1 and that’s probably the least likely

Mercedes returned that hard (unused) tyre set after FP3 only, by the way, so they had the data from the longruns already. Must be pretty sure that it won't be needed.

So merc don’t have a hard tyre left?

With the track going back to ‘green’ and the air-temp low (forecast of 20 degrees), with cloud cover I would say that having options is pretty sensible! That Merc have kept back three sets of softs and only one set of hards boxes them in a little strategically

More like unfortunately. I was hoping for an amusing race with lots of wet/dry tire changes.

they have one set, as it says in the list above. Before (wet) FP3, they still had two. So they had the choice to return another type of tyre instead, if they wanted to - that's what I meant to say.
