Good race today for the team - shame about the Russell retirement in the end after kissing the wall a bit too much. He recovered well.

Interesting to see Lewis chasing Alonso down - I think a lot of it was management from Alonso - who is extremely clever in race/tyre management.

Looking forward to seeing the race pace charts between the top 3.

Any ideas on if a floor update is coming. Wasnt that suppose to be part of the Monaco package. Honestly would be great to have alonso and Lewis fighting all year long.

Yes, a new floor is expected by Silverstone.

Sounds like Merc were only about 1 tenth or so behind Aston this weekend based on the race pace. Not that bad. Could get interesting if Merc can add more rear downforce.

Russell had a great recovery I guess, but that unforced error was quite the rookie mistake.

Kissing? It was a full right hook to the mouth! It's surprising that he got away with so little damage.

You cannot overtake another car if the gap is only one tenth. I’d say it was way more than that. The track suited the AM more. Slow speed corners Hamilton said he was getting destroyed by both Max and Alonso.

I expect performance to ebb and flow based on track type. Barcelona was a track that suited Merc. Canada seemed to favor AMR (even RB couldn't get the tires to work as well as Alonso). Austria will favor AMR. Silverstone will favor Mercedes (but it remains to be seen how things will look with upgrades confusing the picture between both teams. Supposedly Merc have another upgrade coming, and likewise AMR did not have much free practice to understand their own package.

Certainly felt like Merc is on the right course, with HAM and RUS having the confidence to push making a big difference in pace. I'm really excited for the completion of the package in Silverstone.

Kinda crazy that he continued in the race after that hit, don't think i've ever seen a car continue after such an impact.

Time will tell how much pace RB has in reserve. I suspect an additional 2 tenths but hard to say for sure, could be much more.

Unfavorable track? Lewis finished on podium last year (7 seconds behind winner) and George on 4th (12 seconds behind). Ferrari was never a threat since 2nd half of last year. Ferrari sporadically shows one lap speed, but has worse degradation in races. It's actually AM (Alonso) that has been ahead for most part this year and that was the case in Canada also. The consistent theme from Mercedes has been that their situation is way worse than it actually is and then they are making leaps and bounds progress! It's understandable why they do it as they have a corporate to please. Yesterday's result on the track wasn't any different to last year. It was Sainz ahead last year and Alonso this year. If Alonso wouldn't have got stuck behind Lewis, he probably would have opened a bigger gap and pushed Max a bit more.

I reckon Ferrari could have beaten Mercedes if they hadn't had such a poor qualifying on Saturday. Nevertheless, the old W14 would have been smashed by AM and Ferrari yesterday.
