Is this enough OT? Alonso v Hamilton in 2007 has nothing to do with 2023 AMR

anyway, it sounds like Alonso really plans to stay long enough to get that 3rd WDC. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it...
Week in week out, he is now competing for a podium spot again. The 41-year-old driver himself praises his team: "To be honest, I cannot remember another time in my career when I had so much confidence in a team and in a project itself."

IMO in Austria AMR on paper will a have a strong S1, while S2 and S3 will show us how the upgrades actually affected some of the cars previous (let's say) weaknesses.
If S2 is really strong and close to RBR and Mercedes , updates are working like a charm. If S3 is also strong and close to RBR then don't wake me up. Let me live the dream..
Mike Krack:
“And there is some tracks coming now where you have a lot of high-speed corners, and I think we improved our car in high-speed corners, which we have not so many here. [in Canada]

“So actually, we’re looking forward to them, because in such circuits I think we will also see the true strength of the Red Bull, and also it means we have a better indication of how far we are away.”
At least in paper, they should be able to achieve a better compromise for high speed corners now that the working window has widened with the updates. But we'll see of course. Only problem is that Austria offers just a single free practice but that's the formula of today, the same for all other teams.
One can only hope it doesn't rain....

His biggest fault is not qualifying or anything else, it's his misfortune with career choices. He's only enjoyed two years of being in the right place at the right time and they weren't dominant cars at all, in fact 2005/2006 were some of the closest constructor's championships in history. Fernando has never had a dominant car ever in his F1 career compared to Vettel Lewis and Max who've had years of them as only RedBull and Mercedes have won in F1 over the last 13 seasons.

While complaining about luck is often a poor excuse in other sports (and also in F1 as well), this is basically an engineering competition where the driver is just a small piece of the whole puzzle and no matter how well you drive you can finish out of the points or DNF.

At least it seems luck is finally coming his way now with the Aston project but as long as it doesn't end in a championship it won't have been enough. Though I don't want to seem sad as it's certainly a much better time than the last decade.

Just looking at how Mercedes is able to upgrade car, looks like AM doesn't have the similar production/manufacturing infrastructure and lag in getting parts onto the car.

If true, then really need to know how they are trying to fix this.

They've only just moved into their new building. From one of the earlier videos showing the construction progress, there was mention of adding new autoclaves to the existing ones they had. Change doesn't happen overnight but it appears they are removing rate limiting steps one by one.

You're looking for problems where they don't exist.

They will fix it the same way they caught Merc pants down at the start of the season.

Aston Martin working to strengthen DRS

Aston Martin are focusing on trying to make their DRS more powerful and efficient with their upgrades to their AMR23 this season.

The team’s performance director, Tom McCullough, says that they have worked to try and emulate the strong DRS effect enjoyed by the dominant Red Bull team.

“That has been an area of focus for us,” he said. “We are working on that, every upgrade we bring to the car, targeting helping the efficiency of the DRS. So further steps on that all the time.”

Think that's a bit of a BS story. There is no big secret behind RBR DRS. They have alot of DF from the floor, that allows them to run less beam wing and more rear wing. Bigger the rear wing, the bigger the increase in top speed when you open it.

RBR neither has the most peak floor downforce, nor do they run the biggest of rear wings.

Of course not, Newey never goes for peak DF, he goes for stable DF. They got the most stable DF from the floor. That's the only way you go around fast corners faster than anyone else.

They do run large rear wings on the regular.

Another article questioning Lance Stroll's role at AMR.

Eventually the noises will be too loud to ignore.

It's just the British press creating pressure because they want someone like Norris in the car. They can absolutely ignore them if they want.

Next race if Lance gets a podium and Fernando does some kind of mistake it'll be all about the resurrection of Stroll and how Fernando is getting older etc etc. That's F1 journalists.
