Few other things:
Alonso didn't show anything, I think he did whole session on single set of meds?
I'm now thinking hamilton had quite a lot of of fuel on softs, he only improved 0,15s and that's just too little going from hard to soft. For example piastri improved 9 tenths going med -> soft.
Verstappen's fastest lap wasn't that good. Big snap in T1, understeer in T4, oversteer in T10...
From what I've seen RB is fast on straights (big shock). vs sainz: +4 kmh to T1, equal to T3, +10 kmh to T4 (here ferrari is holding back probably).

Yeah, should make for an interesting qualifying. Ferrari looked ok on the softs and likely were a bit lighter than the Mercedes. Given where Stroll ended up on the softs, I think Fred will be a good bit closer come qualifying.

Quarter of a sec faster with a step harder compound on such a short circuit. :? And with Sprint(tm) gremlins.
Yes, but the long run looked abysmal. Significantly slower than Merc, although Mercedes might have had a higher engine setting or lower fuel levels.

See tweet for race pace Merc and RB. Russells was on a much lower fuel load compared to Ham:
RB are slow, but consistent.

Could be higher fuel on the soft run for Hamilton or that the Merc with its strong front end works the hards very well, but that results in a bit of oversteer on the softs. I haven't seen his onboard as on f1tv it did not work. That would also explain the strong hard run.

Ham's fast hard lap was done after other top runners had already boxed off their first set (apart from Alonso)

And I only watched it once (live), but his hard lap was also all over the place. Out of track limits on multiple corners

Now that I look at the long runs again, I think there's a fuel offset. RB are not 4-8 tenths behind Mercedes. Note that in Brazil and Austria last year, RB was also exhibiting extreme tire degradation. There's no sign of it in Verstappen's long run and he also never complained on the radio about deg. So it's likely RB are just doing their own run plans and Mercedes were doing their own run plans likely with less fuel onboard. Verstappen's pace is extremely stable.

Mercedes 1.5 behind...

Were they on used tyres or are they just horrifically slow?

Just tuned in but RB had no used softs, hence the difference I think ?

Now Verstappen is on used tyres vs others on new

seems RB are very happy at this track.. used tyres 2 tenths clear?

McLaren looking good with those upgrades

Track limits are a joke tbh. Should be the kerb-the end. Perez' got deleted, yet albon's wasnt which was further out of T9.

That's one frontrunner towards the rear for sunday in Russell

And now Perez as well. 4 Grand prix in a row without Q3.
