Really? So the 2020 title was down to Ross 7+ years earlier, was it?

I bet you're one of those people that also trot out the trope that Michael made the car successful and Lewis only won Merc titles because of him.

A point to mention, even if merc has now switched to 2024 doesn't mean they will stop all upgrades that have already been green lit until now. Upcoming upgrades were decided months ans months ago

Oh, very much so. JA basically says that in his interview - the stuff we have seen added and will be in Silverstone (?), are new to us but they're old to the team. The team has designed those and moved on to the next thing.

Oh, very much so. JA basically says that in his interview - the stuff we have seen added and will be in Silverstone (?), are new to us but they're old to the team. The team has designed those and moved on to the next thing.

JA was referrring to the Monaco upgrage as old and the one at Silverstone as the future upgrade, somehow formula uno have taken this to mean all focus has shifted to 2024

The idea is that a dominant team can start well ahead of those fighting for P2 or 3 in the WCC, and so start the next year with a baked-in advantage. As Merc have been able to do this a couple of times, Lewis is speaking from experience.

I'd be surprised if everyone didn't want to see competitive seasons every season - yes, it's nice to see "your driver" / "your team" winning lots, but it's even nicer if they have to fight for it every year. 2021 was a great year - a couple of unfortunate incidents aside. Imagine a 2021 every season without the controversial stuff, just the to-and-fro through the season, culminating in a finale at the last race. Who wouldn't sign up to watch that?

Those of use that have followed F1 for a long time have been on both sides of the dominance issue at various times, and the seasons we look back on fondly are those that were close, even if we might not have cared for the drivers involved in the close fights. It was good sport and, crucially, it was entertaining.

P5 & P11 for Merc. Meh. Never felt they were in it here. Hopefully the race pace moves us forward and the Ferrari’s go backwards. Should get Norris. Think a podium is on for Lewis, and just a recovery drive for Russell.

Car is still lacking one lap pace. I don’t know if they’ll ever resolve that issue. It’s been around for a long time now. I fully expect Lewis to beat Lando tomorrow and drop him like a stone. I suppose the Ferraris might be vulnerable as well but we shall see. From behind you still have to account for Alonso but stroll can be a nice buffer if Fernando doesn’t get him at the start. Already looking forward to that silverstone update. Hopefully another significant step will be made.

A bit of that and Russell is dropping off. Lewis hasn't stepped forward massively - the car is still 5 tenths off on a short lap - it's rather that Russell is simply slow since the update.

I was onboard with Lewis he was loosing boat loads of time into and out of turn 3, they are still in desperate need of more rear downforce.

I think the ferraris are going to eat their tires up because they were well off Lewis's time on hard's in fp1, and softs during the actual race seems like a horrendous idea.
