Another one of the better Fridays of this year! Still not quite right for the high speed corners. Bit concerned about the potential deg on the tyres in this one!

P2/3 is a good quali effort, but i'm reserving excitement till we see the race pace tomorrow. Hopefully the good form from the last race will continue.

He lost it in the final corner

He sacrifices the exit for higher minimum speed in the high speed

Not quite right for high speed corners? How do you explain the purple S2 that has the highest speed corners on track and Charles and Carlos starting 2nd and 3rd and Carlos was only 0.15 off, even a short lap that's still less than 0.2s in a normal length track.

Judge it however you want but the car has made pretty significant progress in a small fast track that everyone was predicting RBR ahead by miles, especially miles ahead of Ferrari.

Race is a different beast, strategy can still mess everything up or even just plain reliability, but Ferrari was also the only pair, together with Max, to only use one set of softs in Q1 to get through, in FP1 Charles set his best times on the Hards after 20 odd laps, I'm not expecting a win, not even a double podium, but I'm happy that development is working.

Faster in all the fast corners except last corner exit.

LEC/SAI and VER were doing different stints of course, Ferrari seems consistent anyway LEC's fastest was on his tires lap 22. Some serious degradation on hards for RUS, decent pace from VER although just a smidge slower than HAM, probably different fuel load.

In 2022 Q Max had up to +5kmh top speed advantage on Leclerc - with notably bigger (mid-downforce) rear wing than this year. On the contrary, Ferrari's is just slightly bigger now. Yet this year both cars are equal on top speed, with Max being roughly +3-4kmh from last year and Leclerc +10kmh on some places. Really, really good work by Ferrari.

It's great to see both drivers managed to maximise the car's performance today. Should they both be able to stay within DRS range of Max and each other after first two laps on Sunday, it wouldn't be surprising to see them both overtake him. RB DRS is stronger than Ferrari's so Max will be slower than Ferraris with DRS off on straights.

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Will there be any more upgrades coming or are they done for this year ? I know Fred said all upgrades would be done before the summer break.

Genuinely think Ferrari have learnt a lot this season. Now the direction has changed it will be interesting to see what next years car eventually turns out to be. Seems the latest upgrades have made a big difference. Let’s hope it’s the same for race pace.

It's a strong result for Ferrari, and drivers have suggested that the car is handling like the original F1-75. Ominous.

I assume this is the car for the season. Fred said first half of the season and the Austria upgrades were rushed forward by a few weeks and that would put them at Silverstone which tends to be where teams bring their big pre-summer break package.

Ferrari is finally in a good spot it seems, very good turn around, even if Red Bull still has the edge the team can now hope for something on a day where Verstappen has difficulties/is unlucky.
I also noticed that today the car was scraping the ground without getting violently bouncy, much like the Red Bull.

It also gives the team a clear targets for next year, where they can design a car free of the underpinings of the original designs, maybe a more aggressive water slide, undercut and SIS positioning.

I can see maybe an extra floor, based on whatever they learn from the Red Bull images from Monaco and what they understand from the one they've debuted today, always with a mind on next season.
