I assume that's in addition to the floor, body cover and sidepod updates?
In addition? You think they have new sidepods again after 4 races? Or you mean the ones they brought in Monaco?
It was always the plan to bring a big update to Silverstone. Sidepods and floor at least. Seems to have been pushed back.
Yeah but a "big upgrade" doesn't necessarily mean a sidepod change or an entirely new foor. Could be a wing, part of the floor, diffuser, suspension etc. Maybe a minor sidepod revision.

Wolff said this package is larger than the Monaco one https://racingnews365.com/mercedes-set- ... tone-wolff

I don't see it meaning something as just a front wing or just a floor

Monaco was front suspension and side pods. It's safe to say they won't be revising the front suspension so soon.

So I think it would be front wing, floor, and diffuser. That would qualify as a substantial update.

Imo front wing, complete floor/diffuser, and engine cover will be new. Sidepods to follow in a few races

I dropped a pic from Albert in the W14 thread. Not 100% sure if it looks different of not.

So same as before as far as i can tell
Apparently they’ve only brought a new front wing here…

Funny how they keep hyping up huge upgrades that are going to bring huge performance yet they end up in even worse positions than last year!

Curious to see how they’re going to make the rear more stable! How are they going to find more rear downforce and traction!

I haven't seen confirmation from the team or photos confirming either way regarding floor/diffuser/engine cover/wing.

They need to do a review of their topmost management. Considering they advanced a questionable concept while having one of if not the largest teams and budgets in F1 history.

Not surprisingly there seems to be no decisive correlation between marginal budget variances, wind tunnel time, and success.

I would assume Shov would have said it if there were other things also coming other than the front wing. But yeah it also contradicts Wolf's 'big update' for Silverstone quote.

How about we wait until we see the car built up for scrutineering/FP1 to determine the extent of the upgrade package?

If they make changes to the tunnels, we would never know about what we cannot see.

Lately seem they like hyping things up. It probably gives their employees, drivers, sponsors a morale boost but also keeps the public hooked while protecting their images But if reality doesn't match their claims, they could end up losing credibility.

The general public has short memories. Most all teams are doing something like this. Alpine a few races ago said they would challenge Mercedes and Ferrari. Ferrari has an army of Italian publications presenting optimistic viewpoints.

Sometimes a FW can help add downforce later in the car, outwash and things like that.
It's kinda easy to produce a massive FW that brings a lot of local load, but not always desireable.

Anyway, the car isn't assembled for show and tell yet, having the old body+sidepods outside of the garage doesn't necessarily mean another one isn't coming.

If the side pods get updated irs either water slide or a return of the full zero-pod with undercut. This sanity check of the vanilla pod sorta proved that it didn't fix the traction issues..
