Max Verstappen for once didn't lead from start to finish thanks to Lando Norris but it was still the Red Bull driver who ended up on top when the chequered flag was waved. Norris finished second while Lewis Hamilton completed a nice recovery in third place.
Note that albon did not use a soft tyres for a long run in that session. He used a hard tyre so this is a mistake
Merc look good on long runs, but they did theirs later and did shorter stints. Not convinced the fuel load was same as others (eg RB/Ferrari) given the bleak faces of Russell etc post-fp2.
Awfully quiet here tonight considering a home GP for many posters here.
Interesting sessions. Williams!!!! Impressive!!! If that’s the true pace they should be inside the top 10 comfortably. Fingers crossed for them as they seem to be making good steps under James Vowles leadership.
Mercedes looked a bit ragged today, from a brief view of the televised onboards it seemed very unstable through the corners with little rear end.
Shame we missed out on Charles’ FP2 sessions, would have given some nice data for the long runs, but I think that RB will have the advantage there as usual.
On a side note…: does anyone know how Sam Collins knows the exact fuel in the cars to the litre almost. His analysis on FP1 at the start of the FP2 session reckons Max was on 38kg and Albon on 42kg’s worth of motion potion. I will be massively surprised if it is close to true and even more shocked if the teams release the fuel load on the cars. Let alone what deployment settings are used.
Did anyone knows if the cars from the movie APEX are in fact Mercedes Benz AMG from previous season??
I think Mercedes might have accidentally decided to run the APEX cars.
Lol
Indeed. So much talk about a big upgrade and we only get a front wing. They’re being outdevelloped, which is surprising to see.
This was meant to be a big upgrade weekend for them; bigger than Monaco.
The last 2 races the car has looked worse than ever for them. A challenge to keep under control and pace almost seems to have dropped a little. Unless those around have had a excellent upgrade package and on par with Mercedes now.

I'm guessing they meant to have more than a front wing for silverstone but the rest of the update simply wasn't ready. They'll have a floor/diffuser soon that will improve the rear end, surely. This is still the launch spec W14 floor IIRC? Ferrari, McLaren and AMR have all brought their 2nd floor specifications

Saw a short vid of someone saying Vowles is actually having Sargent taught to drive rather than just letting him get on with it. I dont remember where it was sorry, but it does make a lot of sense, and it is also reported there that Vowles says he is happy with Sergeants' progress. He (Vowles) seems to be a good fit at Williams.
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

I still wouldn't be surprised to see Mercedes sort the car out before Q tomorrow although it did look like a handful to drive from the onboards. The Williams on the other hand required very little steering adjustments if any.

Mercedes are clear 2nd in the long runs. They have always been a bit off on the one lap pace, its just order of business
I checked copse corner for ver, alo, lec and alb. Ver and lec are flat dropping speed from ~300 down to 285, alo small lift from 302 down to 282, albon also small lift but he's coming with higher speed around 305 so only drops down to 286 kmh.
Do you have anything similar for the mercs? They looked woeful out there, i dont think any other car looked as bad in medium to high speed corners, man it was like oversteer city. Maybe something they can fix though, question is, at the expense of what?
Green track, new tire construction, new upgrades. They have a lot to dial in.
