1. So this new front wing is aiming to increase the low-speed corner grip coz I don`t see how it would improve the rear-end grip?

2. Seems that in FP1 HAM tested the old FW and RUS the new one sporting lots of understeer on both cars ... setup issues or do they need to protect the rear tyres as they are aiming for a one-stop M-H race on Sunday?

A front wing can control tire wake. This can have considerable downstream effects.

This was a key development area in the previous regulations.

Ok, thank you Sir for your kind explanation!
Then, what are your thoughts regarding the second question?

It must be confusing for Mercedes to understand how to move forward with the driver feedback when each driver has a different preference.

The lack of rear downforce to go with a more than necessary sharper front end is obviously a balance nightmare. Russell seems more sensitive to the change of that balance than Hamilton at this point.

Ultimately, it's about making the car faster first. The car's clearly lacking rear-end stability/downforce. That will help both Hamilton and Russell.

Did he say develop the car for Lewis @ 1min 39?

Surely the main objective is the make the car fast, not develop it towards one driver.

He did. I wonder if George and Lewis feedback/style is different enough that they had to choose a development route that would fundamentaly be at the expense of one driver and they went with Hamilton preference over George?

Interesting slip I think

Lewis pretty much said the car is bad. So if they are, they arent doing a decent job of it.

Ultimately, every driver on a basic level wants the same thing. Less drag and more downforce...get that and youre golden. Right now, they havent done either
