Sainz again disrespectful to the whole team with those Q1 antics. Every weekend different driver exists first, he got the advantage in Austria, wtf is the problem with him. Another big mistake Binotto made - giving him a 2 year contract...

Imo its same with him as its with some of his fans. Since he is ahead in points table may be he feels he deserves to be treated as No.1 drive.

I understand his view "I am 4th, he's 3rd, I'm more at danger" but 1) that's a bs excuse at that time, and 2) it's the way the team works and everyone should respect that.

Really funny how Ferrari brought upgrades over months and couldn't get as close to RB as McLaren did in ONE upgrade

You are acting like McLaren's "one" upgrade wasn't an entirely new car... either way, who knows what the setup is geared to do, they may have sacrificed some qualy pace to protect the tyres.

Weve literally been half a tenth of them. The gap was 0.2s today. Front limited circuits have been our weakness all year, we've definitely made steps forward in this regard. McLaren were rapid in Barcelona aswell.

You need to realise that behind RB its very close. A swing in conditions or car balance and you are down 3 places in performance delta. Red Bull are the only team to have a car that has works everywhere.

They were also out quite early in Q3, run 2, Charles also didn't have the cleanest final sector. The performance for a front row was there.

Imo they were on course to copy RBR long time back just like AM. Its just that it clicked all together from last 2-3 races. Its not a single upgrade.

Proves the direction is right. Good quali there. Yeah everyone will point to the mclarens being faster, but we’re still ahead of the mercs and hopefully can have a decent race pace and strategy to get one up on the podium. Also. Kudos to mclaren. From nowhere to that pace is mighty impressive.

LEC made mistake in Luffield going slightly wide, and went wide in Stowe. There was easy 2 tenths in that lap, the fight for pole was on.

We went on the radio apologizing for overdriving. I mean it hurts when pole was on the line.

The reality is, it is very tight behind RB

Yep, you guys are right. I was too hasty in my judgement. Charles also said that the car had the pole in it today afterwards.

Here we go the telemetry:

LEC v VER

Image

* Very surprising Ferrari gaining time in Maggotts and Becketts despite a smaller rear wing, although Chapel was worse for LEC.
* Charles really totally bottled S3, huge mistake that lost him basically 0.5s in a single corner (you can see that he lost the rear in his onboard).
* Overall till that last piece of S3 the lap was very very close, within 0.1s.

LEC v NOR

Image

* Here's one of the people taking advantage of that terrible S3 from Charles.
* McLaren lost ages in the straights but gained back in the corners.

good stuff, I think this is progress for Ferrari despite the errors in S3.

As an Aussie I’m happy for Mclaren. As a Ferrari fan, I’m hopeful that Ferrari can stick to the mclarens and cruise past them on the straights. Though Ferrari’s rear wing is smaller, and Mclaren is very good in the corners, so relative tyre wear is an unanswered question. Super excited for this one!

Guys. This is what we want. It’s called racing! Leclerc pushed, made an error that probably cost him pole. On another day he gets it. Ferrari still in a good place for the race tomorrow. Just concerned the small wing might compromise tyre deg

It depends on how big the offset in tyre deg is compared to McLaren. We can pretty much attack them on any straight quite easily.
