At least we should see the pace of Perez on a dry track and he HAS to make the top 5.

Suppose he's earning it but people had almost the opposite opinion of Perez only a few months ago.

Not a convincing Q3 by Max. He didn't stitch together his best sectors on the same lap. But still managed pole.

Besides a couple of shining moments he has been nothing more than an above average midfield driver and i'd like to think that most fans knew that.

It's called winning ugly  . Bit of a messy session there between Perez issues and Max losing the front wing. Good to see they still have some margin in reserve after others have brought significant upgrades.

This qualifying run of Perez in an extremely dominant car is unprecedentedly bad

For Max, how does season average of 3.3 quali compare to other drivers/years?

Probably the worst run on the entire grid. I bet there isnt many other drivers who have failed to get out of Q3 in a row.

Out in Q3

Perez: 5/5
K. Mag: 4/5
De Vries: 3/5
Zhou: 4/5
Tsunoda: 3/5
Sargeant: 4/5
Leclerc: 1/5
Gasly: 1/5
Albon: 1/5
Hulkenberg: 1/5

So yeah, Perez has been the worst for going out in Q1 out of the last 5 races than anyone else on the grid. That's some context....

For Max, it doesn't make sense to include qualifying sessions in Jeddah and Miami for the averages. Those were technical issues iirc. Perez is doing his by his own doing.

This is not season specific:

Of course Max's had the Saudi p15 quali due to driveshaft failure. So without that I guess the average would be competitive

Miami was related to a bad outlap and a flag from a crash in front of him preventing a final fast lap. So I'd include that

Without Saudi he'd be at 2.0 average I think?

Doesn't account for what teams they were driving for, either. Thanks though.

Green s1, purple s3, and I believe his own previous S2 was purple so to be yellow there can mean you are only off by a small bit.

Max also doesn’t force it all when he feels he doesn’t have to.

Sector 3 here he upped the risk imho. It wasn’t perfect no, still, very good.

Verstappen is washed, everyone who's watched f1 for 5 minutes this year knows this.
