Entertainer Michael Jackson died after being taken to a hospital on Thursday having suffered cardiac arrest, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's office.

A Los Angeles fire official told CNN that paramedics arrived at Michael Jackson's home after a 911 call.

1 of 3 Paramedics took Jackson, 50, from his west Los Angeles home Thursday afternoon to UCLA Medical Center, where a team of physicians attempted to resuscitate him for more than an hour, said brother Jermaine Jackson. He said the famed singer was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m. PT. (cnn.com)

What relevance does this have to motorsport in the slightest?

I logged into this site in order to escape from media hysterics relating to this stone-cold suspected sex-offender, but here we are again.

I didn't see any reports of MJ saying that those boys oversteered into his bed, so I just don't see why this is actually here.

Funny, I had always wondered what "Off Topic" meant...

Funny : "get a life" was my gut response when I first saw this ...

Sure, a bloke has died. He made music ... this may have culturally enriched people who found these tunes aesthetically pleasing, but thousands of people (many who will be more directly influential in the betterment of mankind) die every day without fanfare.

Given that I came to this posting from the front page, I missed the "off topic" designation before I snapped, for which I apologise, but still ... I could understand the outpouring of grief if he'd died in a particularly meaningful way.

In my honest opinion, the attention of the world should be on the death Neda Agha Soltan (whose death could affect the future direction of an entire nation) but instead we're focussing on the demise of a pop-star who's decadence will remain the thing of legend.

I guess I'll never understand the culture of celebrity.

About Jackson? He was a sicko but I liked some songs anyway. The guy is like Elvis, has got imitators all arround the globe. What makes me laught is that the guy was always using a breathing mask and doing expensive treatments for life extension, spleeping inside an incubator :? he thought he was going to live 150 years... what a freak!

After countless hours research with many pre-pubescent males the engineers were going to introduce some new bits for Jacko's London gig. They had a new front wig, some aero bits around the crotch, yet another new nose, and a revamped tail section. An even whiter livery was set to be unveiled with new sponsorship from "Boy's Town". The new Jacko was said to be several tenths quicker disrobing than previous versions.

A lot of people forget that he was a pioneer, albeit not on purpose, to help smash down color barriers. Jokes aside by his physical appearance later in life, please.

Motown music was still very much a black person's world, and white people didn't listen nearly as much, and the Jackson 5 and MJ's obviously stellar talent sold their records to more white people then ever. More people than ever. No musician will ever sell as many records as he did. He was the last superstar in the true sense. He wrote almost all his own music, choreographed his own dance steps, and his dance style helped form modern dance into what it is today.

Michael was the voice of my generation as a child, and I still get pumped up listening to the bass line of beat it.

So many people of African decent, Lewis Hamilton inclued, have been able to be more successful in life due to the fact that people like MJ laid down the stones that helped them walk tall.

You could be _little_ more disrespectful of the dead, I think. Having Senna's as an avatar and making fun of the recently deceased is not cool at all. no matter who.

Very harsh, and inhuman.

Sad to hear, in all honesty. Am I going to cry? No. Still, he was an icon, somewhat polarizing towards the end of his life but no one can deny the talent.

Rest in peace MJ.

Nice joke!

I've always wonder why to grieve people that's pretty much useless...

I guess I am just too sensitive a person or a total wimp because this kind of stuff really disappoints me.

I really can't believe people can be so harsh.

On one hand gcdugas post was a technically great joke, well written, concise, to the point, and I understand that you, sebe, don't feel the need to grieve.

I just literally can't understand how a human being can find the death of another human being funny at all. Even a positive death, to an evil doer of some kind in history, was not funny.

Anyways, it's a nice day, and I need to get away from the negatvitiy of the internets for a few hours.

I'm walking down the road to the beach.
