I think with the challenge for P2 alternating between 3/4 different teams, its only going to make it 'easier' for Max to take that crown by himself where he single handily wins both titles himself.
Indeed. If RB were gamblers, they wouldn't bring another upgrade to this car. Max doesn't need to win any more races from this point on yet you know he'll still take a handful with the current spec car. He just needs podiums from here and he could take podiums at a canter when his car was actually worse in prior seasons.
Max said there were more things in the pipeline in a press conference at Baku I believe whilst grinning, so they've been cooking this next upgrade up for a long time. At this time they didn't know their advantage would be similar across track types and conditions, and didn't know how different teams' upgrades would pan out.

Furthermore, if the new floor is already designed why would you not make the new floor spec rather than producing another old spec ? It would not cost much more to make a new spec. It's not like a mid-2023 floor could be saved for the rb20 as it'd be 8 months behind current development.. the only drawback would be a Monaco crash & crane incident that exposes your floor ideas, but I doubt this will happen in the remaining races frankly
I believe the development and production cost of a new part only counts towards the cap once you've put in on the car in an official session. This is why they delayed the chassi last season. So theoretically if you don't believe you need a part that you've developed you could just not bring it and save that CC money for development on next year's car. Of course the man-hours and WT time you've spent can't be reclaimed, but if the part isn't changing the outcome of the season then that money is probably better spent on next year where the outcome is uncertain.

Did anyone watch Max's onboard whole race to confirm this?

Max reported that it was very windy during the race and said that made it difficult to drive.

I also think the setup was a bit oversteery in the low speed. T3 was a bit of a struggle all weekend.

It didn’t look perfect, but it wasn’t bad either. I didn’t really look out for anything understeery but nothing struck me. Max reported the wind moving the car around and that’s about it

The onboard audio was pathetic. I was watching race onboard with Max when he started chasing Lando, then with Russell, Leclerc and Lando. Max was not happy with Softs, but had enough pace to pull ahead and manage. He was just managing in both stints after getting clear of the second car. Wind was something he was complaining, but not sure how badly it was affecting, at least nothing notable from live onboard radio. Nothing like it was in Baku.

Why is that F1 doesn't offer 1080p for live onboards? I only get 1280 x 720p as the best quality whereas the general race feed goes up to 1920 x 1080p.

Any news on the results of the tyre test at Silverstone? Keen to know how Daniel Ricciardo stacked up in a known good car

I believe the tyre test hasn't happened yet and is scheduled for Tuesday 11th July but could be wrong

F1TV onboards used to be 1080p25 at 5 mb/s up until 2021, then they changed it to 720p50 3,5 mb/s. So they traded quality for frame-rate. TV broadcast gets 1080p50 at around 5,5-6 mbs with additional colour corrections on top, while f1tv gets none, making video look completely grey and washed out.

1080p at 5 mbs was far superior, even if 25 fps was like watching a slideshow at 300 kmh.

They also had better cameras back then, since 2021 they changed something and now colour balance is completely off.

In general I observed major regression in this field starting in 2021.

Thanks for the info. There is absolutely no joy in watching onboards with such degraded quality.

This so much. And the audio quality took a massive hit as well, both in quality and microphone placement.

There was a distinct nose dive in audio quality at Silverstone. I could not understand 90% of what Verstappen said this weekend. This had never happened at any previous GP this year.
