How Albon can be ahead of Perez in that car is beyond me. Even Sargeant not too far back; this was always his best circuit in junior categories so not surprising.
Because as per team boss James Vowles : "We mainly did qualifying runs," Yet. This appearance is encouraging." We are aware that we will slip down tomorrow. But we are now in a position with our car to be able to fight.
I’d believe this for FP1 but everyone does quali runs in FP2 and they were just as close if not closer, FP3 also very close to Ferrari. It wouldn’t benefit Williams to essentially compromise their entire weekend by running a different practice program than normal anyways. We’ll see what quali holds but I would be shocked to not see at least one car in Q3.

Looking forward to Spa, Monza and Suzuka. Albon could have been a lot closer to the top teams probably P3/P4 was possible. Did not improve his sector 2 on the final run and lost all his time on the final corners. Albon said the improved grip contributed to the front tyres degrading by turn 6, in the race runs they were rear limited so it seems the car balance needs more work.

Agree, Monza could be fun for Williams! Been lovely to see them up and around the big names this week- Albon especially impressive.

They’ve shown some good development for sure and one would think may continue to attract good talent and sponsorship on the back of this.

Don't forget Las Vegas, another race with Monza level of downforce this year I think.

I quite like the bolder than bold look. I also liked the heritage look as well, but it was a little too plain for my taste.

It'll be interesting to see how it looks on race day in the real world. But it is nice that they will try the more complex design.

Let's just hope the team continue on the upward trajectory they are on or else we won't get any coverage of the design...

Wonder why they have been using the old spec of car for testing instead of the recent upgraded package.

Regarding why they are running the old spec... Maybe it's a 'spares' shortage? They can't do any setup work or aero testing so I guess it's just safer to use the bits laying around instead of the new package and risk damage which would require new bits to be made.

No progress on capex changes:
Also in the dispute over the increase in capital investment (Capex).
Formula 1 got stuck. The only thing that is certain is that the sum due
of inflation from 36 to 40 million dollars for the period from
four years will be increased. Two options for an increase to 50
or even 80 million were in the room. There were neither for the
one nor the other sum majorities. So the negotiations continue.

Very very smart move. I think that Fry is one of the most underrated Lead Engineers on the grid.

With his experience and skills he will add massive value to Williams.
