Unless we saw the cooling requirements of 2 PUs from 2 different manufacturers, you wouldn't know for certain. Either its the packaging or the PU. They seemed to be better last year?

A more "standard" 2023 design. Backed off inboard significantly and trying to shed a lot of vorticity near the endplate.

The real change is in the chord lengths. The main plane changes are huge. Complete redesign of the front wing to be honest

I think of McLaren. Is everyone running these now? It's like a return to the prev era; tight stacked short chords highly inclined. The main plane almost serves to fill in the legality volume now.

All teams ran small sidepods not too long ago, and Alpine has always loved centerline cooling.

It does look funky, but with teams trending to inboard load as much as possible i have to say this seems odd.

I remember Ferrari F2002 has those cutouts in various forms and shapes during the 2002 F1 season and it continued for the following years also (probably last time in 2007).

I think it has to do something with the airflow control coming from the top flap edges and controlling those vortices bleeding towards the rear. Off course, impossible to know exact reasons for such a design.
