Good question. But this has happened in recent years as well.

That is closer to what Max was putting in, Max's times were in 23.1 - 23.4s

Yes, yes, I remember, though I didn’t seem to be here yet on the forum. But it's not the first time Will has left his position with Jose. In general, they are both good engineers.

Separately: about the speed of McLaren in the second training session. It looks good, though there is not enough grip on the rear tires at the exit of the corners, otherwise there is a feeling of understeer. I would say that the balance is still far from optimal, but given the 2nd position, what is going on with the rest? Considering how some underdog teams look, I don't think the leaders have gone all out yet to test the qualifying run. Perhaps in the third training session we will better understand the alignment of forces.

That is closer to what Max was putting in, Max's times were in 23.1 - 23.4s

If that's any way representative, good signs! Bit less doom and gloom compared to what Lando was saying yesterday, but I do appreciate him trying not to raise hopes unnecessarily.

Guys, I have one assumption here, one of the factors that may be holding back Lando from leaving for the Red Bull after his contract is the RBPT-Ford engines. I don't think they can get into engines like Mercedes can. Zak indirectly confirmed that he was satisfied with Mercedes, their technology, capabilities, power, ability to build engines. Reliability and other factors. They are on good terms, so why don't they continue to cooperate? I think Zak also discussed this point with Lando, so for the future I see McLaren among the leaders.

Asked if the result at Silverstone validated the design team changes, Stella said: “By having enabled some conditions, especially when it comes to the aerodynamic development, [it] definitely accelerated the development of the car. This has allowed us to take this performance step.”

Looking at estimated medium run pace on mediums (the only tyre run by all) we seem to fighting Ferrari for 2nd slightly ahead of Mercedes and somewhat ahead of Aston, of course with the massive caveat that this was a entirely jumbled up session with completely different run plans between teams

Are we bringing further upgrades?
Oscar gets the new front wing this week bringing him up to the same spec as Lando, and we have small upgrades this weekend, as well as plenty of test items. We have test components around the front corner of the car, and we’re going to test a few parts around the floor as well. The aim is to increase load, which brings with it the risk of more porpoising – but that’s a lesser risk here that it was at Silverstone, given the profile of the Hungaroring.

With that in mind, we’ll want to start FP1 with rakes fitted to both cars to gather aero data. Once we’ve gathered enough data, we will remove them and use any remaining time and tyre life for set-up study and perhaps some launch practice.

first suggestion, Norris looks decent and someone mentioned he was stuck behind Tsroll for the last laps, if you take that into it it looks even better
